SENATE RESOLUTION NO. 1021 WHEREAS, The Senate of the State of Texas is pleased to recognize Debbie Peterson, who is retiring on May 31, 2009, after 28 years and nine months of outstanding service to the state; and WHEREAS, Debbie began her career in state service as a data entry operator in the Office of the Comptroller of Public Accounts in 1980; she worked her way up into management positions and became recognized for her knowledge in the field of tax system applications and for her work on the "proof of concept" for an Integrated Tax System; and WHEREAS, Throughout her career, Debbie has been noted for her superior skills and expertise; by 2005, she had become division director of the state comptroller's Information Technology Division; and WHEREAS, Seeking a new challenge, Debbie joined the Texas Department of Aging and Disability Services in 2007 as the director of Application Development and Support; in 2008, she was promoted to the position of information resource manager; and WHEREAS, An exemplary public servant, Debbie has had the respect and admiration of her co-workers throughout her many years of service to the state, and her presence at the Texas Department of Aging and Disability Services will be greatly missed; now, therefore, be it RESOLVED, That the Senate of the State of Texas, 81st Legislature, hereby commend Debbie Peterson on her exceptional accomplishments and her successful career in state service and extend to her best wishes for the retirement years ahead; and, be it further RESOLVED, That a copy of this Resolution be prepared for her as an expression of esteem from the Texas Senate.
