4	4	Jonathan David Chatham
5	5	WHEREAS, The Senate of the State of Texas honors and
6	6	commemorates the life of Jonathan David Chatham, who died April
7	7	15, 2008, at the age of 22; and
8	8	WHEREAS, Jonathan Chatham was born April 15, 1986; he was a
9	9	2004 graduate of Hill Country Christian School, where he excelled
10	10	in theater and played numerous sports; he was an outstanding
11	11	baseball player who was named honorable mention all-state by the
12	12	Texas Association of Private and Parochial Schools; and
13	13	WHEREAS, Jonathan participated for several years in
14	14	Destination Imagination, a program based on creative
15	15	problem-solving; he served for seven years as cocaptain of his
16	16	team, which won the state championship in 2002 and went on to
17	17	compete in a world competition against teams from six countries;
18	18	and
19	19	WHEREAS, Jonathan was a prolific writer whose output
20	20	included many short stories and an original screenplay which was
21	21	to be submitted to the Austin Film Festival; and
22	22	WHEREAS, Jonathan was a devout Christian who applied his
23	23	beliefs in all aspects of his daily life; even though his days
24	24	were tragically cut short by a drunk driver, he leaves behind a
25	25	legacy of a life well-lived, embodying the principles of his
26	26	faith; and
27	27	WHEREAS, A young man of compassion, humor, and dedication,
28	28	he gave generously to others, and his spirit, strength, and
29	29	enthusiasm for living each day to the fullest will not be
30	30	forgotten by those who knew him; and
31	31	WHEREAS, Jonathan was a devoted son and brother, and he
32	32	leaves behind memories that will be treasured forever by his
33	33	family and many friends; now, therefore, be it
34	34	RESOLVED, That the Senate of the State of Texas, 81st
35	35	Legislature, hereby extend sincere condolences to the bereaved
36	36	family of Jonathan Chatham: his parents, Cush and Donna Chatham;
37	37	and his sister, Danielle Chatham; and, be it further
38	38	RESOLVED, That a copy of this Resolution be prepared for
39	39	his family as an expression of deepest sympathy from the Texas
40	40	Senate, and that when the Senate adjourns this day, it do so in
41	41	memory of Jonathan David Chatham.
