                    SENATE RESOLUTION NO. 1028
 In Memory
 of
 Jos Dionicio Ramirez Esparza
 WHEREAS, The Senate of the State of Texas joins the
 citizens of El Ranchito in mourning the loss of Jos Dionicio
 "Nicho" Ramirez Esparza, who died November 27, 2008; and
 WHEREAS, Nicho Esparza was born January 25, 1928, to Willie
 Lerma Esparza and Maria Luisa Ramirez Esparza; he grew up in a
 large and loving family on the family ranch in El Ranchito; and
 WHEREAS, Following his high school career, Mr. Esparza
 served in the United States Army as part of the occupation forces
 in Germany; after his service in the armed forces, he met and
 married Zifa Zayas, his wife of 56 years, and the couple raised
 seven children, who blessed them with 11 grandchildren and two
 great-grandchildren; and
 WHEREAS, Mr. Esparza dedicated himself to managing the
 family ranch, and his farming and ranching ability, along with
 his expertise in vegetable processing and wholesaling, made him a
 model for others in the area; and
 WHEREAS, He was a leader in the community and a mentor to
 many; active in civic affairs, he served on the boards of the San
 Benito Bank and Trust and the Amigo Savings and Loan; he also
 served as an advisor to the government's Bracero Program during
 the Kennedy administration; and
 WHEREAS, Mr. Esparza was an avid hunter and sportsman, and
 he shared his enthusiasm for the outdoors with his family and his
 many friends; and
 WHEREAS, A man of courage, strength, and compassion, Mr.
 Esparza gave generously to others, and his wisdom, warmth, and
 valued counsel will not be forgotten by those who knew him; and
 WHEREAS, A devoted husband, father, and grandfather, he
 will long be remembered with affection and admiration by all who
 were privileged to share in his life; now, therefore, be it
 RESOLVED, That the Senate of the State of Texas, 81st
 Legislature, hereby extend sincere condolences to the bereaved
 family and friends of Jos Dionicio Ramirez Esparza; and, be it
 further
 RESOLVED, That a copy of this Resolution be prepared for
 his family as an expression of deepest sympathy from the Texas
 Senate, and that when the Senate adjourns this day, it do so in
 memory of Jos Dionicio Ramirez Esparza.
