5 | 5 | | WHEREAS, The Senate of the State of Texas joins the |
---|
6 | 6 | | citizens of El Ranchito in mourning the loss of Jos Dionicio |
---|
7 | 7 | | "Nicho" Ramirez Esparza, who died November 27, 2008; and |
---|
8 | 8 | | WHEREAS, Nicho Esparza was born January 25, 1928, to Willie |
---|
9 | 9 | | Lerma Esparza and Maria Luisa Ramirez Esparza; he grew up in a |
---|
10 | 10 | | large and loving family on the family ranch in El Ranchito; and |
---|
11 | 11 | | WHEREAS, Following his high school career, Mr. Esparza |
---|
12 | 12 | | served in the United States Army as part of the occupation forces |
---|
13 | 13 | | in Germany; after his service in the armed forces, he met and |
---|
14 | 14 | | married Zifa Zayas, his wife of 56 years, and the couple raised |
---|
15 | 15 | | seven children, who blessed them with 11 grandchildren and two |
---|
16 | 16 | | great-grandchildren; and |
---|
17 | 17 | | WHEREAS, Mr. Esparza dedicated himself to managing the |
---|
18 | 18 | | family ranch, and his farming and ranching ability, along with |
---|
19 | 19 | | his expertise in vegetable processing and wholesaling, made him a |
---|
20 | 20 | | model for others in the area; and |
---|
21 | 21 | | WHEREAS, He was a leader in the community and a mentor to |
---|
22 | 22 | | many; active in civic affairs, he served on the boards of the San |
---|
23 | 23 | | Benito Bank and Trust and the Amigo Savings and Loan; he also |
---|
24 | 24 | | served as an advisor to the government's Bracero Program during |
---|
25 | 25 | | the Kennedy administration; and |
---|
26 | 26 | | WHEREAS, Mr. Esparza was an avid hunter and sportsman, and |
---|
27 | 27 | | he shared his enthusiasm for the outdoors with his family and his |
---|
28 | 28 | | many friends; and |
---|
29 | 29 | | WHEREAS, A man of courage, strength, and compassion, Mr. |
---|
30 | 30 | | Esparza gave generously to others, and his wisdom, warmth, and |
---|
31 | 31 | | valued counsel will not be forgotten by those who knew him; and |
---|
32 | 32 | | WHEREAS, A devoted husband, father, and grandfather, he |
---|
33 | 33 | | will long be remembered with affection and admiration by all who |
---|
34 | 34 | | were privileged to share in his life; now, therefore, be it |
---|
35 | 35 | | RESOLVED, That the Senate of the State of Texas, 81st |
---|
36 | 36 | | Legislature, hereby extend sincere condolences to the bereaved |
---|
37 | 37 | | family and friends of Jos Dionicio Ramirez Esparza; and, be it |

39 | 39 | | RESOLVED, That a copy of this Resolution be prepared for |

40 | 40 | | his family as an expression of deepest sympathy from the Texas |
