11 SENATE RESOLUTION NO. 1050
22 WHEREAS, The Senate of the State of Texas is pleased to
33 recognize El Maida Shrine Temple in El Paso on the grand occasion
44 of its 100th anniversary; and
55 WHEREAS, El Maida Shrine is a fraternity based on fun,
66 fellowship, and the Masonic principles of brotherly love,
77 relief, and truth; and
88 WHEREAS, Shriners are legendary for their humanitarian
99 mission, the Shriners Hospitals for Children; renowned as the
1010 "World's Greatest Philanthropy," it is a unique international
1111 health care system of 22 hospitals dedicated to improving the
1212 lives of children by providing specialty pediatric care,
1313 innovative research, and outstanding teaching programs; and
1414 WHEREAS, El Maida Shriners contribute their valuable time
1515 and talents to a variety of events throughout the year that raise
1616 awareness about the Shriners fraternity and its noble mission;
1717 and
1818 WHEREAS, Shriners affiliated with El Maida Shrine Temple
1919 embrace the spirit, enthusiasm, and principles of fraternity and
2020 philanthropy, and they deserve recognition for their support of
2121 the El Paso community and the Shriners hospitals; now, therefore,
2222 be it
2323 RESOLVED, That the Senate of the State of Texas, 81st
2424 Legislature, hereby congratulate the members of El Maida Shrine
2525 Temple on its centennial and in honor of this event proclaim June
2626 9, 2009, as El Maida Shrine Day; and, be it further
2727 RESOLVED, That a copy of this Resolution be prepared for
2828 them as an expression of high regard from the Texas Senate.
