44 Constance H. McClintick
55 WHEREAS, The Senate of the State of Texas joins the
66 citizens of San Antonio in mourning the loss of Constance H.
77 McClintick, who died December 27, 2008, at the age of 84; and
88 WHEREAS, Constance H. McClintick was born on September 30,
99 1924, in Philadelphia, Pennsylvania; she was a 1942 graduate of
1010 Thomas Jefferson High School in San Antonio, where she was an
1111 enthusiastic member of the Lassos; and
1212 WHEREAS, She married her childhood sweetheart, Charles
1313 Ralls McClintick, on January 3, 1942, and the couple had three
1414 sons; Mrs. McClintick shouldered the same burden as so many young
1515 wives of that era as she raised their family while her husband
1616 fought first in World War II and then in Korea; and
1717 WHEREAS, Following the war, the family moved around the
1818 country as Dr. McClintick helped establish a series of Pearle
1919 Vision Centers, Vista Opticals, and Texas State Opticals; they
2020 returned to San Antonio, where Mrs. McClintick joined in her
2121 husband's enthusiastic support of Texas A&M University and
2222 became a devoted member of the Aggie Wives Club; and
2323 WHEREAS, Active in civic and philanthropic affairs, Mrs.
2424 McClintick was a member of the Olmos Park Garden Club and the
2525 Daughters of the Confederacy; she was a volunteer for Boysville
2626 and a member of the Laurel Heights United Methodist Church; and
2727 WHEREAS, A woman of courage, strength, and compassion, she
2828 gave generously to others, and her wisdom, forthrightness, and
2929 valued counsel will not be forgotten by those who knew her; and
3030 WHEREAS, She was a devoted wife and mother, and she will be
3131 remembered with affection and admiration by all who were
3232 privileged to share in her life; now, therefore, be it
3333 RESOLVED, That the Senate of the State of Texas, 81st
3434 Legislature, hereby extend sincere condolences to the bereaved
3535 family of Constance H. McClintick: her sons and
3636 daughters-in-law, Edward Lee and Elise McClintick and Clyde
3737 Perry and Cathy McClintick; and, be it further
3838 RESOLVED, That a copy of this Resolution be prepared for
3939 her family as an expression of deepest sympathy from the Texas
4040 Senate, and that when the Senate adjourns this day, it do so in
4141 memory of Constance H. McClintick.
