5 | 5 | | WHEREAS, The Senate of the State of Texas joins the |
---|
6 | 6 | | citizens of San Antonio in mourning the loss of Constance H. |
---|
7 | 7 | | McClintick, who died December 27, 2008, at the age of 84; and |
---|
8 | 8 | | WHEREAS, Constance H. McClintick was born on September 30, |
---|
9 | 9 | | 1924, in Philadelphia, Pennsylvania; she was a 1942 graduate of |
---|
10 | 10 | | Thomas Jefferson High School in San Antonio, where she was an |
---|
11 | 11 | | enthusiastic member of the Lassos; and |
---|
12 | 12 | | WHEREAS, She married her childhood sweetheart, Charles |
---|
13 | 13 | | Ralls McClintick, on January 3, 1942, and the couple had three |
---|
14 | 14 | | sons; Mrs. McClintick shouldered the same burden as so many young |
---|
15 | 15 | | wives of that era as she raised their family while her husband |
---|
16 | 16 | | fought first in World War II and then in Korea; and |
---|
17 | 17 | | WHEREAS, Following the war, the family moved around the |
---|
18 | 18 | | country as Dr. McClintick helped establish a series of Pearle |
---|
19 | 19 | | Vision Centers, Vista Opticals, and Texas State Opticals; they |
---|
20 | 20 | | returned to San Antonio, where Mrs. McClintick joined in her |
---|
21 | 21 | | husband's enthusiastic support of Texas A&M University and |
---|
22 | 22 | | became a devoted member of the Aggie Wives Club; and |
---|
23 | 23 | | WHEREAS, Active in civic and philanthropic affairs, Mrs. |
---|
24 | 24 | | McClintick was a member of the Olmos Park Garden Club and the |
---|
25 | 25 | | Daughters of the Confederacy; she was a volunteer for Boysville |
---|
26 | 26 | | and a member of the Laurel Heights United Methodist Church; and |
---|
27 | 27 | | WHEREAS, A woman of courage, strength, and compassion, she |
---|
28 | 28 | | gave generously to others, and her wisdom, forthrightness, and |
---|
29 | 29 | | valued counsel will not be forgotten by those who knew her; and |
---|
30 | 30 | | WHEREAS, She was a devoted wife and mother, and she will be |
---|
31 | 31 | | remembered with affection and admiration by all who were |
---|
32 | 32 | | privileged to share in her life; now, therefore, be it |
---|
33 | 33 | | RESOLVED, That the Senate of the State of Texas, 81st |
---|
34 | 34 | | Legislature, hereby extend sincere condolences to the bereaved |
---|
35 | 35 | | family of Constance H. McClintick: her sons and |
---|
36 | 36 | | daughters-in-law, Edward Lee and Elise McClintick and Clyde |
---|
37 | 37 | | Perry and Cathy McClintick; and, be it further |
---|
38 | 38 | | RESOLVED, That a copy of this Resolution be prepared for |

39 | 39 | | her family as an expression of deepest sympathy from the Texas |
---|
40 | 40 | | Senate, and that when the Senate adjourns this day, it do so in |
