SENATE RESOLUTION NO. 1065 WHEREAS, Jack E. Singley has devoted 44 years of outstanding service to the Irving Independent School District as an exemplary teacher and administrator; and WHEREAS, Mr. Singley began his career with the Irving Independent School District as a mathematics teacher at MacArthur High School; he went on to hold numerous other positions with the district, including vice principal, principal, assistant superintendent for administration, and, for more than 20 years, superintendent of schools; and WHEREAS, During his tenure as superintendent, the number of students in the district has grown by more than 50 percent; eight new schools have been added, the number of employees has nearly doubled, and some 30,000 students have graduated from district high schools; and WHEREAS, Mr. Singley contributed greatly to the quality of the educational program offered in the Irving Independent School District; one of the longest-serving school superintendents in Texas, he recently announced his retirement; and WHEREAS, An exceptional educator and administrator, Mr. Singley is respected and admired by his colleagues, and his presence at the Irving Independent School District will be greatly missed; now, therefore, be it RESOLVED, That the Senate of the State of Texas, 81st Legislature, hereby commend Jack E. Singley on his many years of outstanding service to the Irving Independent School District and extend to him best wishes for continued success in all his future endeavors; and, be it further RESOLVED, That a copy of this Resolution be prepared for him as an expression of esteem from the Texas Senate.
