| 2 | 2 | | WHEREAS, Jack E. Singley has devoted 44 years of |
|---|
| 3 | 3 | | outstanding service to the Irving Independent School District as |
|---|
| 4 | 4 | | an exemplary teacher and administrator; and |
|---|
| 5 | 5 | | WHEREAS, Mr. Singley began his career with the Irving |
|---|
| 6 | 6 | | Independent School District as a mathematics teacher at |
|---|
| 7 | 7 | | MacArthur High School; he went on to hold numerous other |
|---|
| 8 | 8 | | positions with the district, including vice principal, |
|---|
| 9 | 9 | | principal, assistant superintendent for administration, and, for |
|---|
| 10 | 10 | | more than 20 years, superintendent of schools; and |
|---|
| 11 | 11 | | WHEREAS, During his tenure as superintendent, the number |
|---|
| 12 | 12 | | of students in the district has grown by more than 50 percent; |
|---|
| 13 | 13 | | eight new schools have been added, the number of employees has |
|---|
| 14 | 14 | | nearly doubled, and some 30,000 students have graduated from |
|---|
| 15 | 15 | | district high schools; and |
|---|
| 16 | 16 | | WHEREAS, Mr. Singley contributed greatly to the quality of |
|---|
| 17 | 17 | | the educational program offered in the Irving Independent School |
|---|
| 18 | 18 | | District; one of the longest-serving school superintendents in |
|---|
| 19 | 19 | | Texas, he recently announced his retirement; and |
|---|
| 20 | 20 | | WHEREAS, An exceptional educator and administrator, Mr. |
|---|
| 21 | 21 | | Singley is respected and admired by his colleagues, and his |
|---|
| 22 | 22 | | presence at the Irving Independent School District will be |
|---|
| 23 | 23 | | greatly missed; now, therefore, be it |
|---|
| 24 | 24 | | RESOLVED, That the Senate of the State of Texas, 81st |
|---|
| 25 | 25 | | Legislature, hereby commend Jack E. Singley on his many years of |
|---|
| 26 | 26 | | outstanding service to the Irving Independent School District |
|---|
| 27 | 27 | | and extend to him best wishes for continued success in all his |
|---|
| 28 | 28 | | future endeavors; and, be it further |
|---|
| 29 | 29 | | RESOLVED, That a copy of this Resolution be prepared for |
|---|
| 30 | 30 | | him as an expression of esteem from the Texas Senate. |
