SENATE RESOLUTION NO. 108 WHEREAS, The Senate of the State of Texas is pleased to recognize the Greater Houston Partnership and its regional allies for their outstanding efforts on behalf of Houston's business community; and WHEREAS, Comprised of 2,000 member companies, the Greater Houston Partnership serves as the primary advocate for Houston's business community; with members including small and mid-size companies as well as Fortune 500 companies, this exemplary organization promotes the growth of high-paying jobs, international trade, and capital investments in the 10-county Houston region; and WHEREAS, Under the outstanding leadership of the partnership's president, Jeff Moseley, and its chair, Dan Bellow, the Greater Houston Partnership has played an important role in the area's economy; in July of 2008, the Houston metropolitan area was rated the number one place in the country to live, work, and play by Kiplinger's Personal Finance; and WHEREAS, Through hard work and dedication, the partnership and its members have helped to create regional economic prosperity and have helped Texas to remain a leader in job creation and commerce; this outstanding organization is truly deserving of recognition for its commitment to making the Houston region a driving force in our state's economy; now, therefore, be it RESOLVED, That the Senate of the State of Texas, 81st Legislature, hereby commend the Greater Houston Partnership and its regional allies on their exceptional contributions to the Houston business community; and, be it further RESOLVED, That a copy of this Resolution be prepared for the partnership as an expression of esteem from the Texas Senate.
