5 | 5 | | WHEREAS, The Senate of the State of Texas honors and |

6 | 6 | | commemorates the life of Amy McBrayer Young, who died on |
---|
7 | 7 | | September 20, 2008, at the age of 38; and |
---|
8 | 8 | | WHEREAS, Amy Young wanted to make a difference in the world |
---|
9 | 9 | | and make it a better place; during her too-short life, she did |
---|
10 | 10 | | just that; she approached everything she did with enthusiasm, an |
---|
11 | 11 | | insatiable curiosity, and an energetic spirit; and |
---|
12 | 12 | | WHEREAS, At the time of her death, she was a public policy |
---|
13 | 13 | | specialist for the Texas Council for Developmental Disabilities, |
---|
14 | 14 | | where she was a learned student of public policy and a tireless |
---|
15 | 15 | | advocate for people with disabilities; she previously worked for |
---|
16 | 16 | | the Senate Research Center and the Texas Legislative Council; and |
---|
17 | 17 | | WHEREAS, Amy was born in Houston on November 9, 1969; she |
---|
18 | 18 | | earned a bachelor of arts degree in English from Austin College |
---|
19 | 19 | | in Sherman and a master's degree from the LBJ School of Public |
---|
20 | 20 | | Affairs at The University of Texas at Austin; and |
---|
21 | 21 | | WHEREAS, She gave generously of her time and energy as a |
---|
22 | 22 | | volunteer for SafePlace and the Texas Council for Family |
---|
23 | 23 | | Violence; she was an active member of Wildflower Church and |
---|
24 | 24 | | worked with Austin Interfaith; she enjoyed hiking, kayaking, and |
---|
25 | 25 | | traveling; and |
---|
26 | 26 | | WHEREAS, Amy was renowned for her loyalty, her charm, and |
---|
27 | 27 | | her passion for life, and she was admired and respected by all who |
---|
28 | 28 | | knew her; a devoted daughter, sister, and friend, she leaves |
---|
29 | 29 | | behind memories that will be treasured forever by her family and |
---|
30 | 30 | | many friends; now, therefore, be it |
---|
31 | 31 | | RESOLVED, That the Senate of the State of Texas, 81st |
---|
32 | 32 | | Legislature, hereby pay tribute to the life of Amy McBrayer Young |
---|
33 | 33 | | and extend sincere condolences to her bereaved family; and, be it |
---|
34 | 34 | | further |

35 | 35 | | RESOLVED, That a copy of this Resolution be prepared for |

36 | 36 | | her family as an expression of deepest sympathy from the Texas |
