1	1	SENATE RESOLUTION NO. 1118
2	2	WHEREAS, The Senate of the State of Texas is pleased to pay
3	3	tribute to one of its most beloved and valued staff members,
4	4	Betty Cotte, by naming her the 2009 legislative recipient of the
5	5	Betty King Public Service Award; and
6	6	WHEREAS, Betty Cotte is the administrative director in the
7	7	office of Senator Steve Ogden; known for handling her
8	8	responsibilities with dedication and skill, Betty is held in high
9	9	regard by the legislators and the many Capitol staff members with
10	10	whom she works; and
11	11	WHEREAS, After serving in upper-level management in
12	12	private industry for over 30 years, Betty joined Senator Ogden's
13	13	staff in 1996, while he was serving in the Texas House of
14	14	Representatives; as the senator's administrative director, Betty
15	15	holds a position that entails a wide range of responsibilities;
16	16	and
17	17	WHEREAS, She provides valuable administrative oversight of
18	18	the senator's Capitol and district offices and plays a major role
19	19	in helping to meet the needs and address the concerns of
20	20	constituents; she is also responsible for managing the senator's
21	21	schedule and is often in the position of answering the many
22	22	questions regarding the legislative process and various
23	23	political issues that are typically directed to a senator's
24	24	office; and
25	25	WHEREAS, Betty is known for her poise, her perseverance,
26	26	and her ability to consistently accomplish the mission before
27	27	her, no matter the uniqueness of the task or the challenges
28	28	entailed; her cheerful spirit, her ready smile, and her ability
29	29	to maintain composure, even in the midst of chaos, endear her to
30	30	all who know and work with her; and
31	31	WHEREAS, She is an impressive administrator who is highly
32	32	respected for her work ethic, her professionalism, her positive
33	33	attitude, and her loyalty and integrity, and she is most
34	34	deserving of her selection for the Betty King Public Service
35	35	Award; now, therefore, be it
36	36	RESOLVED, That the Senate of the State of Texas, 81st
37	37	Legislature, hereby extend sincere appreciation to Betty Cotte
38	38	for her outstanding service to the Texas Senate and
39	39	congratulations to her on earning the 2009 Betty King Public
40	40	Service Award; and, be it further
41	41	RESOLVED, That a copy of this Resolution be prepared for
42	42	her as an expression of esteem from the Texas Senate.
