5 | 5 | | WHEREAS, The Senate of the State of Texas joins the |

6 | 6 | | citizens of El Paso in mourning the loss of Veronica Teresa |

7 | 7 | | O'Hagan Cook, who died January 22, 2009, at the age of 88; and |
---|
8 | 8 | | WHEREAS, Veronica O'Hagan was the daughter of the late John |
---|
9 | 9 | | and Catherine O'Hagan; she married her beloved husband, John F. |
---|
10 | 10 | | Cook, Sr., a veteran of World War II, at Saint Ephraim Church in |
---|
11 | 11 | | Brooklyn, New York; and |
---|
12 | 12 | | WHEREAS, Veronica Cook was a gifted schoolteacher who |
---|
13 | 13 | | taught kindergarten and religious education at Most Holy Trinity |
---|
14 | 14 | | School; she loved all children and was devoted to her students, |
---|
15 | 15 | | whom she mentored with wisdom and deep affection; and |
---|
16 | 16 | | WHEREAS, El Paso was her home for 36 years, and she was |
---|
17 | 17 | | respected in her community for her generous nature, her many |
---|
18 | 18 | | accomplishments, and her keen sense of humor; and |
---|
19 | 19 | | WHEREAS, She was a woman of great faith who embraced life |
---|
20 | 20 | | with fortitude, grace, and dignity and who gave unselfishly of |
---|
21 | 21 | | her time and energy to others; and |
---|
22 | 22 | | WHEREAS, Veronica Cook was a source of strength to many and |
---|
23 | 23 | | was beloved by her family and friends, and she leaves behind |
---|
24 | 24 | | memories that will be treasured forever by all who were fortunate |
---|
25 | 25 | | to share in her life; now, therefore, be it |
---|
26 | 26 | | RESOLVED, That the Senate of the State of Texas, 81st |
---|
27 | 27 | | Legislature, hereby extend sincere condolences to the bereaved |
---|
28 | 28 | | family of Veronica Teresa Cook: her children, Veronica Cook, |
---|
29 | 29 | | John Cook, Jr., Michael Cook, Edward Cook, Joan Keating, Edna |

30 | 30 | | Benson, and Kevin Cook; her grandchildren, great-grandchildren, |

31 | 31 | | and great-great-grandchild; and her brother, John O'Hagan; and, |
