| 2 | 2 | | WHEREAS, The Senate of the State of Texas is pleased to |

| 3 | 3 | | recognize San Antonio attorney Sylvia A. Cardona, president of |

| 4 | 4 | | the Texas Young Lawyers Association; and |
|---|
| 5 | 5 | | WHEREAS, Sylvia Cardona is a shareholder in the San Antonio |

| 6 | 6 | | office of Langley and Banack, Incorporated, and her practice |
|---|
| 7 | 7 | | focuses on litigation and international law; she earned a |
|---|
| 8 | 8 | | bachelor's degree from The University of Texas at San Antonio and |
|---|
| 9 | 9 | | a law degree from the University of Oklahoma College of Law; she |
|---|
| 10 | 10 | | was admitted to practice in Texas in 2001 and received her master |
|---|
| 11 | 11 | | of laws degree in international and comparative law from |
|---|
| 12 | 12 | | Georgetown University Law Center in 2002; and |
|---|
| 13 | 13 | | WHEREAS, She is an active leader in numerous professional |
|---|
| 14 | 14 | | associations, including the Texas State Bar Association, the |
|---|
| 15 | 15 | | Bexar County Women's Bar Association, the American Bar |
|---|
| 16 | 16 | | Association, and the William S. Sessions American Inn of Court; |

| 17 | 17 | | and |

| 18 | 18 | | WHEREAS, She serves on the board of directors of the Texas |
|---|
| 19 | 19 | | State Bar Association, the Texas Bar Foundation, and the San |
|---|
| 20 | 20 | | Antonio Young Lawyers Association; she was recognized by the San |
|---|
| 21 | 21 | | Antonio Business Journal as a rising star in 2004, and her peers |
|---|
| 22 | 22 | | recognized her as one of San Antonio's best lawyers in Scene in |
|---|
| 23 | 23 | | San Antonio Monthly magazine; and |
|---|
| 24 | 24 | | WHEREAS, An active volunteer in the San Antonio community, |
|---|
| 25 | 25 | | she speaks to students about the importance of education, and in |
|---|
| 26 | 26 | | an effort to increase pro bono representation, she helped train |
|---|
| 27 | 27 | | more than 100 lawyers statewide to represent children detained at |
|---|
| 28 | 28 | | the border; she is indeed a rising star in the field of law, and |
|---|
| 29 | 29 | | she deserves recognition for her many accomplishments; now, |
|---|
| 30 | 30 | | therefore, be it |

| 31 | 31 | | RESOLVED, That the Senate of the State of Texas, 81st |
|---|
| 32 | 32 | | Legislature, hereby commend Sylvia A. Cardona for her |
|---|
| 33 | 33 | | outstanding work in the legal profession and extend to her best |
|---|
| 34 | 34 | | wishes in all her future endeavors; and, be it further |

| 35 | 35 | | RESOLVED, That a copy of this Resolution be prepared for |
