| 2 | 2 | | WHEREAS, The Texas Senate takes great pride in recognizing |

| 3 | 3 | | the members of Leadership Lewisville from Lewisville, Texas, on |

| 4 | 4 | | the occasion of their visit to Austin February 9 and 10, 2009; and |

| 5 | 5 | | WHEREAS, Sponsored by the Lewisville Chamber of Commerce, |

| 6 | 6 | | Leadership Lewisville is part of the chamber's Community |
|---|
| 7 | 7 | | Development Division; and |
|---|
| 8 | 8 | | WHEREAS, The goals of Leadership Lewisville include |
|---|
| 9 | 9 | | providing a unique educational experience for those who |
|---|
| 10 | 10 | | participate in the program and helping them to develop their |
|---|
| 11 | 11 | | leadership skills; the program also aims to motivate emerging |
|---|
| 12 | 12 | | leaders and help them to acquire a working knowledge of the |
|---|
| 13 | 13 | | community; and |
|---|
| 14 | 14 | | WHEREAS, Anyone who works or resides in the greater |
|---|
| 15 | 15 | | Lewisville area is eligible to apply for admission to the |
|---|
| 16 | 16 | | program; and |
|---|
| 17 | 17 | | WHEREAS, Managed by the Leadership Lewisville Steering |
|---|
| 18 | 18 | | Committee, the program requires students to attend one school |
|---|
| 19 | 19 | | board meeting and one city council meeting during the nine-month |
|---|
| 20 | 20 | | session; and |
|---|
| 21 | 21 | | WHEREAS, Having its participants learn the inner workings |
|---|
| 22 | 22 | | of private and public institutions and how and where one might |
|---|
| 23 | 23 | | make contributions to the community are the desired ends of |
|---|
| 24 | 24 | | Leadership Lewisville; and |
|---|
| 25 | 25 | | WHEREAS, The class of 20 to 30 members is chosen without |
|---|
| 26 | 26 | | regard to race, gender, age, education, or personal or employment |
|---|
| 27 | 27 | | affiliations; now, therefore, be it |
|---|
| 28 | 28 | | RESOLVED, That the Senate of the State of Texas, 81st |
|---|
| 29 | 29 | | Legislature, hereby commend Leadership Lewisville for its |
|---|
| 30 | 30 | | innovative and thorough approach to preparing citizens for |
|---|
| 31 | 31 | | prominent roles in their community; and, be it further |
|---|
| 32 | 32 | | RESOLVED, That a copy of this Resolution be prepared for |

| 33 | 33 | | Leadership Lewisville as an expression of high regard from the |
