| 2 | 2 | | WHEREAS, The Senate of the State of Texas is pleased to |

| 3 | 3 | | recognize Dr. Philip J. Huber, Jr., who is currently serving as |
|---|
| 4 | 4 | | president of the Dallas County Medical Society; and |
|---|
| 5 | 5 | | WHEREAS, The son of a neurosurgeon, Philip Huber grew up in |
|---|
| 6 | 6 | | Royal Oak, Michigan, and graduated from Culver Military Academy; |
|---|
| 7 | 7 | | after attending Yale University, he graduated from medical |
|---|
| 8 | 8 | | school at Columbia in 1972 and interned at Parkland Hospital; and |
|---|
| 9 | 9 | | WHEREAS, In 1980, he began his successful career with The |
|---|
| 10 | 10 | | University of Texas Southwestern Medical School; he began |
|---|
| 11 | 11 | | teaching as an assistant professor, and in 1998, he became vice |
|---|
| 12 | 12 | | chairman of the Department of Surgery; during his tenure he |
|---|
| 13 | 13 | | earned the Excellence in Teaching Award on 10 occasions; in 2001, |
|---|
| 14 | 14 | | he was honored with a Louis A. Buie Visiting Lecture appointment |
|---|
| 15 | 15 | | at the Mayo Clinic, and he was awarded the first Ernest Poulos |
|---|
| 16 | 16 | | Surgery Chair in 2002; and |
|---|
| 17 | 17 | | WHEREAS, Dr. Huber began his private practice in January of |
|---|
| 18 | 18 | | 2005 and currently practices with Dr. Walton Taylor; he is often |
|---|
| 19 | 19 | | called upon to perform complex colorectal surgeries and has a |
|---|
| 20 | 20 | | good working relationship with Medical City Hospital and its |
|---|
| 21 | 21 | | staff; and |
|---|
| 22 | 22 | | WHEREAS, As president of the Dallas County Medical |
|---|
| 23 | 23 | | Society, his vision for 2009 is to provide meaningful information |
|---|
| 24 | 24 | | and direction to its members, including highlighting the |
|---|
| 25 | 25 | | technical edge in patient care and implementing the HIE 5; he |
|---|
| 26 | 26 | | intends to focus on meetings and social networking opportunities |
|---|
| 27 | 27 | | and will be encouraging members to have their voices heard by |
|---|
| 28 | 28 | | elected officials; now, therefore, be it |
|---|
| 29 | 29 | | RESOLVED, That the Senate of the State of Texas, 81st |
|---|
| 30 | 30 | | Legislature, hereby commend Dr. Philip J. Huber, Jr., on his |
|---|
| 31 | 31 | | valuable leadership as president of the Dallas County Medical |
|---|
| 32 | 32 | | Society and extend to him best wishes for the future; and, be it |
