SENATE RESOLUTION NO. 138 In Memory of Tomas Moreno WHEREAS, The Senate of the State of Texas joins the citizens of San Antonio in mourning the loss of Tomas "T.T." Moreno, who died recently at the age of 59; and WHEREAS, Tomas "T.T." Moreno was born October 20, 1949; a volunteer, an activist, and a devoted family man, he was respected and admired in his community for his devotion to service and his many achievements; and WHEREAS, Mr. Moreno enjoyed a long and productive career as a firefighter with the San Antonio Fire Department; during his tenure with the department, he became active in his union, leading to a legacy of political involvement that saw him hold numerous offices and positions of responsibility; and WHEREAS, Mr. Moreno served as president of his union's political action committee and as vice president and legislative director for the AFL-CIO; in his capacity as a union leader, he often traveled to sessions of the Texas Legislature, advocating for legislation to aid the working men and women of Texas; and WHEREAS, Active in community affairs, Mr. Moreno volunteered with the Knights of Columbus at Saint Mark's Catholic Church, serving as a coach and holding other positions in the organization; he also participated in numerous activities with the Boy Scouts of America; and WHEREAS, A man of strength, passion, and courage in the face of adversity, Mr. Moreno gave generously to others, and his wisdom, his warmth, his sense of humor, and his love of spirited debate will not be forgotten by those who knew him; and WHEREAS, He was a devoted husband, father, and grandfather, and his family and many friends will continue to live with the cherished memories of his life and many achievements; now, therefore, be it RESOLVED, That the Senate of the State of Texas, 81st Legislature, hereby extend sincere condolences to the bereaved family of Tomas "T.T." Moreno: his wife, Deborah A. Moreno; his children, Tomas Moreno, Jr., Jason Moreno, Kandice Hall, Kristin Holzman, and Keely Rogers; his grandchildren, Tomas, Michael, Sebastian, and Dominic Moreno and Delanie and Caiden Holzman; his brothers, Blas, Alex, Miguel, Juan, and Jimmy Moreno; and his sisters, Victoria Moreno Hernandez and Filiciana Moreno Gonzalez; and, be it further RESOLVED, That a copy of this Resolution be prepared for his family as an expression of deepest sympathy from the Texas Senate, and that when the Senate adjourns this day, it do so in memory of Tomas Moreno.
