4	4	Tomas Moreno
5	5	WHEREAS, The Senate of the State of Texas joins the
6	6	citizens of San Antonio in mourning the loss of Tomas "T.T."
7	7	Moreno, who died recently at the age of 59; and
8	8	WHEREAS, Tomas "T.T." Moreno was born October 20, 1949; a
9	9	volunteer, an activist, and a devoted family man, he was
10	10	respected and admired in his community for his devotion to
11	11	service and his many achievements; and
12	12	WHEREAS, Mr. Moreno enjoyed a long and productive career as
13	13	a firefighter with the San Antonio Fire Department; during his
14	14	tenure with the department, he became active in his union,
15	15	leading to a legacy of political involvement that saw him hold
16	16	numerous offices and positions of responsibility; and
17	17	WHEREAS, Mr. Moreno served as president of his union's
18	18	political action committee and as vice president and legislative
19	19	director for the AFL-CIO; in his capacity as a union leader, he
20	20	often traveled to sessions of the Texas Legislature, advocating
21	21	for legislation to aid the working men and women of Texas; and
22	22	WHEREAS, Active in community affairs, Mr. Moreno
23	23	volunteered with the Knights of Columbus at Saint Mark's Catholic
24	24	Church, serving as a coach and holding other positions in the
25	25	organization; he also participated in numerous activities with
26	26	the Boy Scouts of America; and
27	27	WHEREAS, A man of strength, passion, and courage in the
28	28	face of adversity, Mr. Moreno gave generously to others, and his
29	29	wisdom, his warmth, his sense of humor, and his love of spirited
30	30	debate will not be forgotten by those who knew him; and
31	31	WHEREAS, He was a devoted husband, father, and
32	32	grandfather, and his family and many friends will continue to
33	33	live with the cherished memories of his life and many
34	34	achievements; now, therefore, be it
35	35	RESOLVED, That the Senate of the State of Texas, 81st
36	36	Legislature, hereby extend sincere condolences to the bereaved
37	37	family of Tomas "T.T." Moreno: his wife, Deborah A. Moreno; his
38	38	children, Tomas Moreno, Jr., Jason Moreno, Kandice Hall, Kristin
39	39	Holzman, and Keely Rogers; his grandchildren, Tomas, Michael,
40	40	Sebastian, and Dominic Moreno and Delanie and Caiden Holzman; his
41	41	brothers, Blas, Alex, Miguel, Juan, and Jimmy Moreno; and his
42	42	sisters, Victoria Moreno Hernandez and Filiciana Moreno
43	43	Gonzalez; and, be it further
44	44	RESOLVED, That a copy of this Resolution be prepared for
45	45	his family as an expression of deepest sympathy from the Texas
46	46	Senate, and that when the Senate adjourns this day, it do so in
47	47	memory of Tomas Moreno.
