| 2 | 2 | | WHEREAS, The Senate of the State of Texas is pleased to |

| 3 | 3 | | recognize Hadassah for its outstanding work in encouraging |

| 4 | 4 | | volunteerism and its efforts in promoting and supporting medical |
|---|
| 5 | 5 | | research; and |
|---|
| 6 | 6 | | WHEREAS, Hadassah, the Women's Zionist Organization of |
|---|
| 7 | 7 | | America, is a volunteer women's organization whose members are |
|---|
| 8 | 8 | | dedicated to strengthening their partnership with Israel, |
|---|
| 9 | 9 | | ensuring Jewish continuity, and playing a role as a dynamic force |
|---|
| 10 | 10 | | in American society; and |
|---|
| 11 | 11 | | WHEREAS, The Hadassah Medical Organization in Israel is |
|---|
| 12 | 12 | | one the world's foremost health care institutions, leading the |
|---|
| 13 | 13 | | way in research on such issues as Parkinson's disease, multiple |
|---|
| 14 | 14 | | sclerosis, liver cancer, and cystic fibrosis; and |
|---|
| 15 | 15 | | WHEREAS, In the United States, Hadassah has for many years |
|---|
| 16 | 16 | | been an advocate of health care reform and has promoted further |
|---|
| 17 | 17 | | research on the correlation between disease and the environment; |
|---|
| 18 | 18 | | and |
|---|
| 19 | 19 | | WHEREAS, With 20 chapters and nearly 9,000 members in |
|---|
| 20 | 20 | | Texas, this exemplary organization provides a valuable forum for |
|---|
| 21 | 21 | | efforts to promote education, advance women's and children's |
|---|
| 22 | 22 | | health care rights, and provide vital medical care and research; |
|---|
| 23 | 23 | | now, therefore, be it |
|---|
| 24 | 24 | | RESOLVED, That the Senate of the State of Texas, 81st |
|---|
| 25 | 25 | | Legislature, hereby commend Hadassah on its exemplary efforts in |
|---|
| 26 | 26 | | volunteerism and medical research and extend to its members a |
|---|
| 27 | 27 | | heartfelt welcome to the State Capitol; and, be it further |

| 28 | 28 | | RESOLVED, That a copy of this Resolution be prepared for |
