| 2 | 2 | | WHEREAS, The Senate of the State of Texas is pleased to |

| 3 | 3 | | recognize Lance Corporal Justin Rokohl for his service to our |
|---|
| 4 | 4 | | nation in Afghanistan and for his courage in overcoming severe |
|---|
| 5 | 5 | | injuries that has set an enduring example for others to follow; |
|---|
| 6 | 6 | | and |
|---|
| 7 | 7 | | WHEREAS, Lance Corporal Rokohl is a 2005 graduate of Orange |
|---|
| 8 | 8 | | Grove High School, where he was an active participant in numerous |
|---|
| 9 | 9 | | competitive sports; he answered the call to service and joined |
|---|
| 10 | 10 | | the United States Marine Corps shortly after his graduation; and |
|---|
| 11 | 11 | | WHEREAS, While serving our nation in Afghanistan, Lance |
|---|
| 12 | 12 | | Corporal Rokohl was severely injured when an improvised |
|---|
| 13 | 13 | | explosive device blew up the vehicle carrying him and three |
|---|
| 14 | 14 | | fellow Marines; thrown 90 feet into the air, he suffered multiple |
|---|
| 15 | 15 | | injuries, including eight broken vertebrae; and |
|---|
| 16 | 16 | | WHEREAS, Lance Corporal Rokohl survived eight hours of |
|---|
| 17 | 17 | | emergency surgery, during which doctors amputated both of his |
|---|
| 18 | 18 | | legs in order to save his life; refusing to give in to his |
|---|
| 19 | 19 | | injuries, he fought back, and within five months was again |
|---|
| 20 | 20 | | competing in Texas rodeos as a team roper; and |
|---|
| 21 | 21 | | WHEREAS, Lance Corporal Rokohl embodies the valor and |
|---|
| 22 | 22 | | dedication to freedom that the members of the United States |
|---|
| 23 | 23 | | Marine Corps have shown on behalf of our nation and its |
|---|
| 24 | 24 | | democratic ideals, and his bravery and perseverance have set a |
|---|
| 25 | 25 | | sterling example for all; now, therefore, be it |
|---|
| 26 | 26 | | RESOLVED, That the Senate of the State of Texas, 81st |
|---|
| 27 | 27 | | Legislature, hereby commend Lance Corporal Justin Rokohl on his |
|---|
| 28 | 28 | | courage in the face of adversity and extend to him sincere |
|---|
| 29 | 29 | | gratitude for his service to our nation and best wishes for |
|---|
| 30 | 30 | | continued success in all his future endeavors; and, be it further |
|---|
| 31 | 31 | | RESOLVED, That a copy of this Resolution be prepared for |
