| 3 | 3 | | recognize the Palestine Area Chamber of Commerce for its role in |

| 5 | 5 | | WHEREAS, With an understanding of the importance of an |

| 6 | 6 | | educated populace, the Palestine Area Chamber of Commerce |

| 7 | 7 | | strives to bring economic vitality and growth to the area by |
|---|
| 8 | 8 | | building a sustained program of enriched education for the |
|---|
| 9 | 9 | | community; and |

| 10 | 10 | | WHEREAS, This outstanding organization supports a wide |

| 11 | 11 | | array of programs that work directly with area schools to create, |
|---|
| 12 | 12 | | support, and sustain educational excellence in the sciences; it |

| 13 | 13 | | offers job readiness programs and employment to students within |
|---|
| 14 | 14 | | the chamber itself; and |
|---|
| 15 | 15 | | WHEREAS, The National Aeronautics and Space Administration |

| 16 | 16 | | Columbia Summer Science Intern program encourages interest in |
|---|
| 17 | 17 | | the sciences, and the NASA Columbia Scientific Balloon Facility |
|---|
| 18 | 18 | | in Palestine serves as a model of scientific inquiry and |
|---|
| 19 | 19 | | research; and |
|---|
| 20 | 20 | | WHEREAS, With a plan that also includes the Summer Teacher |

| 21 | 21 | | Associate Program, Science and Technology Week, and the |
|---|
| 22 | 22 | | provision of Internet-based teaching and learning resources, the |
|---|
| 23 | 23 | | chamber has further demonstrated its commitment to educational |
|---|
| 24 | 24 | | excellence in science; now, therefore, be it |
|---|
| 25 | 25 | | RESOLVED, That the Senate of the State of Texas, 81st |
|---|
| 26 | 26 | | Legislature, hereby commend the Palestine Area Chamber of |
|---|
| 27 | 27 | | Commerce on its role in furthering science education and its |
|---|
| 28 | 28 | | efforts in advancing cooperation between local schools and |
|---|
| 29 | 29 | | businesses; and, be it further |
