                    SENATE RESOLUTION NO. 186
 In Memory
 of
 Mary Alice Romo-Partida
 WHEREAS, The Senate of the State of Texas joins the
 citizens of Houston in mourning the loss of Mary Alice
 Romo-Partida, who died February 1, 2009, at the age of 79; and
 WHEREAS, Mary Alice was born May 18, 1929, in Freeport,
 Texas, to Catarino and Fidencia Escamilla Garza; she grew up in
 Houston and graduated from Milby High School in 1948; and
 WHEREAS, A devout Catholic, she was a member of Catholic
 Daughters and served as a Eucharistic minister and church
 secretary for Our Lady of Mount Carmel Catholic Church; in her
 later years, she attended Saint Helen Catholic Church in
 Pearland; and
 WHEREAS, An exemplary lady, she was respected in the
 community for her accomplishments and was a member of The Young
 at Heart Club and Milby Hispanic Alumni; and
 WHEREAS, A woman of integrity, strength, and generosity,
 she gave unselfishly of her time to others, and her wisdom,
 warmth, and valued counsel will not be forgotten by those who
 knew her; and
 WHEREAS, She was a devoted wife, mother, and grandmother,
 and she leaves behind memories that will be treasured forever by
 her family and many friends; now, therefore, be it
 RESOLVED, That the Senate of the State of Texas, 81st
 Legislature, hereby extend sincere condolences to the bereaved
 family of Mary Alice Romo-Partida: her husband, Frank Partida;
 her sons and daughters-in-law, Dennis James Romo and Peggy,
 Daniel Martin Romo and Lynda, Terry Rene Romo and Blanca, and
 Russell Glenn Romo; her sisters, Rebecca Ramirez and Betty
 Garcia; and her grandchildren, stepchildren, and
 stepgrandchildren; and, be it further
 RESOLVED, That a copy of this Resolution be prepared for
 the members of her family as an expression of deepest sympathy
 from the Texas Senate, and that when the Senate adjourns this
 day, it do so in memory of Mary Alice Romo-Partida.
