| 5 | 5 | | WHEREAS, The Senate of the State of Texas joins the |
|---|
| 6 | 6 | | citizens of Houston in mourning the loss of Mary Alice |
|---|
| 7 | 7 | | Romo-Partida, who died February 1, 2009, at the age of 79; and |
|---|
| 8 | 8 | | WHEREAS, Mary Alice was born May 18, 1929, in Freeport, |
|---|
| 9 | 9 | | Texas, to Catarino and Fidencia Escamilla Garza; she grew up in |
|---|
| 10 | 10 | | Houston and graduated from Milby High School in 1948; and |
|---|
| 11 | 11 | | WHEREAS, A devout Catholic, she was a member of Catholic |
|---|
| 12 | 12 | | Daughters and served as a Eucharistic minister and church |
|---|
| 13 | 13 | | secretary for Our Lady of Mount Carmel Catholic Church; in her |
|---|
| 14 | 14 | | later years, she attended Saint Helen Catholic Church in |
|---|
| 15 | 15 | | Pearland; and |
|---|
| 16 | 16 | | WHEREAS, An exemplary lady, she was respected in the |
|---|
| 17 | 17 | | community for her accomplishments and was a member of The Young |
|---|
| 18 | 18 | | at Heart Club and Milby Hispanic Alumni; and |
|---|
| 19 | 19 | | WHEREAS, A woman of integrity, strength, and generosity, |
|---|
| 20 | 20 | | she gave unselfishly of her time to others, and her wisdom, |
|---|
| 21 | 21 | | warmth, and valued counsel will not be forgotten by those who |
|---|
| 22 | 22 | | knew her; and |
|---|
| 23 | 23 | | WHEREAS, She was a devoted wife, mother, and grandmother, |
|---|
| 24 | 24 | | and she leaves behind memories that will be treasured forever by |
|---|
| 25 | 25 | | her family and many friends; now, therefore, be it |
|---|
| 26 | 26 | | RESOLVED, That the Senate of the State of Texas, 81st |
|---|
| 27 | 27 | | Legislature, hereby extend sincere condolences to the bereaved |

| 28 | 28 | | family of Mary Alice Romo-Partida: her husband, Frank Partida; |
|---|
| 29 | 29 | | her sons and daughters-in-law, Dennis James Romo and Peggy, |
|---|
| 30 | 30 | | Daniel Martin Romo and Lynda, Terry Rene Romo and Blanca, and |
|---|
| 31 | 31 | | Russell Glenn Romo; her sisters, Rebecca Ramirez and Betty |
