1	1	SENATE RESOLUTION NO. 196
2	2	WHEREAS, The Senate of the State of Texas is pleased to
3	3	join the members of the Rolling Plains Communities Partnership
4	4	and citizens across the Lone Star State in celebrating March 3,
5	5	2009, as Rolling Plains Day at the State Capitol; and
6	6	WHEREAS, The scenic Rolling Plains of North Central Texas
7	7	is an area of approximately 28 million acres, much of which is
8	8	covered with juniper woodlands and prairie midgrasses; the
9	9	rugged Caprock Escarpment separates the Rolling Plains from the
10	10	High Plains; and
11	11	WHEREAS, Four Texas rivers run through the soft prairie
12	12	sands and clay soil of the region; the Canadian River, the
13	13	Colorado River, the Concho River, and the Red River offer scenic
14	14	beauty and many recreational opportunities; and
15	15	WHEREAS, The Rolling Plains Communities Partnership
16	16	encourages rural counties to pool their resources in order to
17	17	promote economic and community development in the area; the
18	18	counties of Wheeler, Donley, Collingsworth, Briscoe, Hall,
19	19	Childress, Motley, Cottle, Foard, and Hardeman have all
20	20	benefited from the partnership's work; and
21	21	WHEREAS, The leadership and services provided by the
22	22	Rolling Plains Communities Partnership have assisted numerous
23	23	Texans, and this outstanding organization is truly deserving of
24	24	recognition; now, therefore, be it
25	25	RESOLVED, That the Senate of the State of Texas, 81st
26	26	Legislature, hereby commend the citizens of the Rolling Plains
27	27	for their many contributions to our state and welcome the
28	28	delegation of the Rolling Plains Communities Partnership to
29	29	Austin for Rolling Plains Day at the State Capitol; and, be it
30	30	further
31	31	RESOLVED, That a copy of this Resolution be prepared in
32	32	honor of this occasion.
