5 | 5 | | WHEREAS, The Senate of the State of Texas joins the |
---|
6 | 6 | | citizens of Austin in mourning the loss of Myrtle Harborth Guinn, |
---|
7 | 7 | | who died December 16, 2008, at the age of 88; and |
---|
8 | 8 | | WHEREAS, Myrtle "Schatzi" Guinn was born in Geronimo, |
---|
9 | 9 | | Texas, to Louis and Alma Harborth on July 6, 1920; and |
---|
10 | 10 | | WHEREAS, Myrtle was happily married to the late Woods Guinn |
---|
11 | 11 | | for 64 years and was dedicated to her life as a homemaker and to |
---|
12 | 12 | | raising her family; she enthusiastically and unreservedly gave |
---|
13 | 13 | | of her love and support to her children and grandchildren, and |
---|
14 | 14 | | she played a major role in each of their lives; and |
---|
15 | 15 | | WHEREAS, She also served with loyalty for many years with |
---|
16 | 16 | | the Texas Senate, where she often worked through the night during |
---|
17 | 17 | | 11 legislative sessions from 1965 through 1986; as proofing |
---|
18 | 18 | | supervisor in the Engrossing and Enrolling Department, she was |
---|
19 | 19 | | known for her organizational ability and her devotion to |
---|
20 | 20 | | completing whatever daunting work assignments she was given; a |
---|
21 | 21 | | real "trooper," she was a trusted employee who set high |
---|
22 | 22 | | standards, and her good humor, warm personality, and friendly |
---|
23 | 23 | | nature endeared her to all who worked with her; and |
---|
24 | 24 | | WHEREAS, Myrtle was an exemplary lady who touched the lives |
---|
25 | 25 | | of many, and she was respected in the community for her |
---|
26 | 26 | | leadership and her accomplishments; she was an active member of |
---|
27 | 27 | | Hyde Park Christian Church for over 60 years and served as |
---|
28 | 28 | | treasurer of the Christian Women's Fellowship and as an Elder; |
---|
29 | 29 | | and |
---|
30 | 30 | | WHEREAS, Blessed with an infectious laugh, Myrtle was a |
---|
31 | 31 | | source of joy to others and was beloved by her family and many |
---|
32 | 32 | | friends; she will long be remembered with deep affection and |
---|
33 | 33 | | appreciation by all who were privileged to share in her life; |
---|
34 | 34 | | now, therefore, be it |
---|
35 | 35 | | RESOLVED, That the Senate of the State of Texas, 81st |
---|
36 | 36 | | Legislature, hereby extend sincere condolences to the bereaved |
---|
37 | 37 | | family of Myrtle Harborth Guinn: her daughters and sons-in-law, |
---|
38 | 38 | | Janice and Allan Henry and Connie and David Giles; and her many |
---|
39 | 39 | | grandchildren and great-grandchildren; and, be it further |
---|
40 | 40 | | RESOLVED, That a copy of this Resolution be prepared for |
---|
41 | 41 | | the members of her family as an expression of deepest sympathy |
---|
42 | 42 | | from the Texas Senate, and that when the Senate adjourns this |

43 | 43 | | day, it do so in memory of Myrtle Guinn. |
