44 Myrtle Harborth Guinn
55 WHEREAS, The Senate of the State of Texas joins the
66 citizens of Austin in mourning the loss of Myrtle Harborth Guinn,
77 who died December 16, 2008, at the age of 88; and
88 WHEREAS, Myrtle "Schatzi" Guinn was born in Geronimo,
99 Texas, to Louis and Alma Harborth on July 6, 1920; and
1010 WHEREAS, Myrtle was happily married to the late Woods Guinn
1111 for 64 years and was dedicated to her life as a homemaker and to
1212 raising her family; she enthusiastically and unreservedly gave
1313 of her love and support to her children and grandchildren, and
1414 she played a major role in each of their lives; and
1515 WHEREAS, She also served with loyalty for many years with
1616 the Texas Senate, where she often worked through the night during
1717 11 legislative sessions from 1965 through 1986; as proofing
1818 supervisor in the Engrossing and Enrolling Department, she was
1919 known for her organizational ability and her devotion to
2020 completing whatever daunting work assignments she was given; a
2121 real "trooper," she was a trusted employee who set high
2222 standards, and her good humor, warm personality, and friendly
2323 nature endeared her to all who worked with her; and
2424 WHEREAS, Myrtle was an exemplary lady who touched the lives
2525 of many, and she was respected in the community for her
2626 leadership and her accomplishments; she was an active member of
2727 Hyde Park Christian Church for over 60 years and served as
2828 treasurer of the Christian Women's Fellowship and as an Elder;
2929 and
3030 WHEREAS, Blessed with an infectious laugh, Myrtle was a
3131 source of joy to others and was beloved by her family and many
3232 friends; she will long be remembered with deep affection and
3333 appreciation by all who were privileged to share in her life;
3434 now, therefore, be it
3535 RESOLVED, That the Senate of the State of Texas, 81st
3636 Legislature, hereby extend sincere condolences to the bereaved
3737 family of Myrtle Harborth Guinn: her daughters and sons-in-law,
3838 Janice and Allan Henry and Connie and David Giles; and her many
3939 grandchildren and great-grandchildren; and, be it further
4040 RESOLVED, That a copy of this Resolution be prepared for
4141 the members of her family as an expression of deepest sympathy
4242 from the Texas Senate, and that when the Senate adjourns this
4343 day, it do so in memory of Myrtle Guinn.
