| 3 | 3 | | recognize the Lambda Zeta chapter of Zeta Phi Beta Sorority, |

| 4 | 4 | | Incorporated, on the occasion of its 75th anniversary; and |

| 5 | 5 | | WHEREAS, Since its inception in 1934, the Lambda Zeta |

| 6 | 6 | | chapter has been an integral part of Zeta Phi Beta Sorority and of |
|---|
| 7 | 7 | | the Houston community; and |
|---|
| 8 | 8 | | WHEREAS, Known for leading the way as an agent of effective |
|---|
| 9 | 9 | | and dedicated public service, the Lambda Zeta chapter has made |
|---|
| 10 | 10 | | many outstanding contributions throughout the years to the |
|---|
| 11 | 11 | | Houston community; and |
|---|
| 12 | 12 | | WHEREAS, Foremost among the events celebrating this |
|---|
| 13 | 13 | | auspicious occasion is the Evening of Brilliant Jewels on March |
|---|
| 14 | 14 | | 28, 2009, where the Seventy-Fifth Anniversary Award will be |
|---|
| 15 | 15 | | presented to those who have worked unselfishly to improve the |
|---|
| 16 | 16 | | community and the organization; and |
|---|
| 17 | 17 | | WHEREAS, The members of the Lambda Zeta chapter have made a |
|---|
| 18 | 18 | | difference through their conscious efforts to work for the |
|---|
| 19 | 19 | | betterment of their fellow citizens for 75 years; this |
|---|
| 20 | 20 | | exceptional organization is justly deserving of recognition for |
|---|
| 21 | 21 | | the example it has set in the area of public service; now, |
|---|
| 22 | 22 | | therefore, be it |

| 23 | 23 | | RESOLVED, That the Senate of the State of Texas, 81st |

| 24 | 24 | | Legislature, hereby commend the Lambda Zeta chapter of Zeta Phi |

| 25 | 25 | | Beta Sorority, Incorporated, on its exemplary legacy of |
|---|
| 26 | 26 | | community service and extend to its members best wishes for a |

| 27 | 27 | | memorable 75th anniversary celebration; and, be it further |
