| 2 | 2 | | WHEREAS, The Senate of the State of Texas is pleased to |

| 3 | 3 | | recognize January 28, 2009, as Texas Capitol Schoolhouse Day; and |

| 4 | 4 | | WHEREAS, The Texas Capitol Schoolhouse event gives |
|---|
| 5 | 5 | | students, teachers, and administrators from across the state the |
|---|
| 6 | 6 | | opportunity to demonstrate how technology is used in their |
|---|
| 7 | 7 | | schools and to provide information to legislators and other state |
|---|
| 8 | 8 | | leaders on how these technologies improve the learning process; |
|---|
| 9 | 9 | | and |
|---|
| 10 | 10 | | WHEREAS, Teachers and students set up their classrooms in |
|---|
| 11 | 11 | | the Capitol, and throughout the event, they conduct classes as |
|---|
| 12 | 12 | | they do every day in their home districts; using computers, |
|---|
| 13 | 13 | | students work in a variety of virtual learning environments; and |
|---|
| 14 | 14 | | WHEREAS, The Carrollton-Farmers Branch, Hallsville, |
|---|
| 15 | 15 | | Klein, Manor, Childress, Bryan, Ysleta, Floydada, Coleman, |
|---|
| 16 | 16 | | Houston, Midland, and Northside Independent School Districts and |
|---|
| 17 | 17 | | the Pasadena Virtual School and Texas School for the Deaf are |
|---|
| 18 | 18 | | participating in the 2009 Texas Capitol Schoolhouse; this year's |
|---|
| 19 | 19 | | theme is "New Tools for Texas Schools"; and |
|---|
| 20 | 20 | | WHEREAS, The Texas Capitol Schoolhouse allows legislators |
|---|
| 21 | 21 | | and other state leaders to observe firsthand how the state |
|---|
| 22 | 22 | | funding they provide for technology in the public schools today |
|---|
| 23 | 23 | | is helping to prepare the children of Texas for the future; now, |
|---|
| 24 | 24 | | therefore, be it |

| 25 | 25 | | RESOLVED, That the Senate of the State of Texas, 81st |
|---|
| 26 | 26 | | Legislature, hereby extend appreciation to the Texas Capitol |
|---|
| 27 | 27 | | Schoolhouse Foundation for providing students, educators, and |
|---|
| 28 | 28 | | our state's leaders with this exceptional educational |
|---|
| 29 | 29 | | experience; and, be it further |
|---|
| 30 | 30 | | RESOLVED, That a copy of this Resolution be prepared in |
