4 | 4 | | Chamber of Commerce in recognizing February 17, 2009, as Irving |

5 | 5 | | Day at the State Capitol; and |

6 | 6 | | WHEREAS, Strategically located in the heart of the |

7 | 7 | | Dallas-Fort Worth Metroplex, Irving maintains the spirit of a |
---|
8 | 8 | | small town while offering residents and businesses an |
---|
9 | 9 | | unparalleled quality of life; it is also the site of the lush |
---|
10 | 10 | | parkways and vibrant communities of Valley Ranch, home of the |
---|
11 | 11 | | famed Dallas Cowboys; and |
---|
12 | 12 | | WHEREAS, Other Irving amenities include the National |
---|
13 | 13 | | Scouting Museum, the official museum of the Boy Scouts of |
---|
14 | 14 | | America, and the Irving Arts Center, which boasts two theaters, |

15 | 15 | | an outdoor sculpture garden, and 12 resident arts groups and |
---|
16 | 16 | | hosts more than 20 art exhibits annually and various touring |
---|
17 | 17 | | performances; Irving is also the site of the annual HP Byron |
---|
18 | 18 | | Nelson Golf Championship, which serves as a venue for business |
---|
19 | 19 | | networking and entertaining; and |

20 | 20 | | WHEREAS, Irving is the location of the global headquarters |

21 | 21 | | of Fortune 500 companies ExxonMobil, Kimberly-Clark, Commercial |
---|
22 | 22 | | Metals, and Fluor Corporation and is home to 8,000 companies, |

23 | 23 | | including more than 50 Fortune 500 corporations; it is also the |

24 | 24 | | site of the headquarters of such Fortune 1000 companies as |
---|
25 | 25 | | Flowserve, Michael's Stores, Pioneer Natural Resources, and Zale |

26 | 26 | | Corporation; and |
---|
27 | 27 | | WHEREAS, Many foreign-owned businesses have benefited from |

28 | 28 | | Irving's strong corporate environment, and companies with |
---|
29 | 29 | | headquarters scattered throughout the world, in such countries |

30 | 30 | | as Belgium, Saudi Arabia, Mexico, Finland, Germany, and Japan, |

31 | 31 | | have opened offices in the Greater Irving area; the Dallas-Fort |

32 | 32 | | Worth International Airport, one of the world's busiest |

33 | 33 | | airports, provides easy global access to Irving for |
---|
34 | 34 | | international business relationships; and |

35 | 35 | | WHEREAS, Empowering corporations to reach their greatest |
---|
36 | 36 | | potential has become the goal of the Irving area; as the bustling |

37 | 37 | | business center of the Dallas-Fort Worth Metroplex, Irving has |
---|
38 | 38 | | earned a Double Triple A bond rating, the highest financial |
---|
39 | 39 | | ranking a city can achieve; now, therefore, be it |

40 | 40 | | RESOLVED, That the Senate of the State of Texas, 81st |

41 | 41 | | Legislature, hereby commend the members of the Greater |
---|
42 | 42 | | Irving-Las Colinas Chamber of Commerce for helping the City of |

43 | 43 | | Irving become a business-friendly place as well as a |
---|
44 | 44 | | people-friendly place and extend best wishes to them for a |
---|
45 | 45 | | successful and celebratory Irving Day at the State Capitol; and, |

47 | 47 | | RESOLVED, That a copy of this Resolution be prepared for |
