| 2 | 2 | | WHEREAS, The Senate of the State of Texas is pleased to |

| 3 | 3 | | join the students, faculty, staff, and alumni of the Texas Tech |

| 4 | 4 | | University System and citizens across the state in celebrating |

| 5 | 5 | | February 17, 2009, as Texas Tech University System Day at the |

| 6 | 6 | | Texas Capitol; and |
|---|
| 7 | 7 | | WHEREAS, Comprised of Texas Tech University, the Texas |
|---|
| 8 | 8 | | Tech University Health Sciences Center, and Angelo State |
|---|
| 9 | 9 | | University, the Texas Tech University System operates campuses |
|---|
| 10 | 10 | | across the state and in Germany and Spain; and |
|---|
| 11 | 11 | | WHEREAS, Under the direction of Chancellor Kent Hance, the |
|---|
| 12 | 12 | | Texas Tech University System is committed to improving access to |
|---|
| 13 | 13 | | higher education and strengthening the academic quality of its |
|---|
| 14 | 14 | | member institutions; by expanding knowledge through research and |
|---|
| 15 | 15 | | effectively managing its resources, the system is providing |
|---|
| 16 | 16 | | exemplary service to its communities and the state as a whole; |
|---|
| 17 | 17 | | and |
|---|
| 18 | 18 | | WHEREAS, With a total enrollment of 37,000 students and a |
|---|
| 19 | 19 | | faculty and staff of 18,000 dedicated educators and employees, |
|---|
| 20 | 20 | | the Texas Tech University System continues to provide our state |
|---|
| 21 | 21 | | with exemplary leaders and citizens; its alumni have played a |
|---|
| 22 | 22 | | major role in the development of Texas as a leader in higher |
|---|
| 23 | 23 | | education; now, therefore, be it |
|---|
| 24 | 24 | | RESOLVED, That the Senate of the State of Texas, 81st |
|---|
| 25 | 25 | | Legislature, hereby commend the students, faculty, staff, and |
|---|
| 26 | 26 | | alumni of the Texas Tech University System on their dedication to |
|---|
| 27 | 27 | | the advancement of higher education in our state and extend to |
|---|
| 28 | 28 | | them a sincere welcome to Austin for Texas Tech University System |

| 29 | 29 | | Day at the Texas Capitol; and, be it further |

| 30 | 30 | | RESOLVED, That a copy of this Resolution be prepared for |
