1	1	SENATE RESOLUTION NO. 247
2	2	WHEREAS, The Senate of the State of Texas is pleased to
3	3	join the Houston Northwest Chapter of National Women of
4	4	Achievement, Incorporated, in paying tribute to the 2009
5	5	honorees of its annual Profiles of Prominence scholarship
6	6	program at a breakfast on February 28, 2009; and
7	7	WHEREAS, National Women of Achievement is an outstanding
8	8	organization that encourages women and young people to strive for
9	9	excellence in their academic pursuits, to maintain high moral and
10	10	ethical standards, and to make lasting contributions in their
11	11	chosen career fields; and
12	12	WHEREAS, The theme for the Houston Northwest Chapter's 16th
13	13	annual Profiles of Prominence scholarship breakfast is "Waiting
14	14	to Excel"; the organization will honor young men and women for
15	15	excellence in academics and sports, good citizenship,
16	16	leadership, and service to their schools and the community; and
17	17	WHEREAS, The 2009 honorees are Jaylin Sweat, Andryia
18	18	Neutton, Christian Williams, Ashantaray Routt, Raquel Davis,
19	19	Aaron Kingsberry, Chelsea Jones, Edward Taylor, Octavia Hull,
20	20	Jabbar Hasan, Shaunice Hawkins-Paige, Jarvis Hooper, and Tyler
21	21	Guillory; and
22	22	WHEREAS, The Houston Northwest Chapter of National Women
23	23	of Achievement, Incorporated, seeks to value, encourage, and
24	24	embrace these young honorees as they endeavor to live their lives
25	25	in a positive manner and rise above any negative influences; now,
26	26	therefore, be it
27	27	RESOLVED, That the Senate of the State of Texas, 81st
28	28	Legislature, hereby extend congratulations to the 2009 Profiles
29	29	of Prominence honorees of the Houston Northwest Chapter of
30	30	National Women of Achievement, Incorporated, and extend to all
31	31	best wishes for the future; and, be it further
32	32	RESOLVED, That a copy of this Resolution be prepared for
33	33	them as an expression of esteem from the Texas Senate.
