SENATE RESOLUTION NO. 276 WHEREAS, The 70th birthday of an esteemed Texan is indeed cause for celebration, and on March 5, 2009, James W. Vaughn of Houston is marking this occasion in his happy and accomplished life; and WHEREAS, Known as "Mr. V," James Vaughn is a beloved figure on Houston radio, and his efforts have benefited KPFT-FM for nearly two decades; in addition to his work behind the scenes, he volunteers to cohost one of the station's most popular programs, Blues on the Move, which offers a wide range of new and classic blues and showcases Houston artists, past and present; his radio program also features news of interest to his audience, including information on upcoming performances, special events, record releases, and artist updates; and WHEREAS, Mr. Vaughn is admired for his dedicated support of Bayou City blues musicians, both by promoting their work on air and by assisting them in various other ways, and he also contributes to many worthy causes in the community; and WHEREAS, Blessed with a rewarding career and a loving family, James Vaughn truly has reason to celebrate, and it is a pleasure to recognize him for seven decades of life well lived; now, therefore, be it RESOLVED, That the Senate of the State of Texas, 81st Legislature, hereby congratulate James W. Vaughn on the joyous occasion of his 70th birthday and extend to him sincere best wishes for continued happiness; and, be it further RESOLVED, That an official copy of this Resolution be prepared for Mr. V as an expression of high regard from the Texas Senate.
