                            SENATE RESOLUTION NO. 278
 WHEREAS, The Senate of the State of Texas is pleased to
 join the citizens of Balch Springs and Texans across the state in
 celebrating March 4, 2009, as Balch Springs Day at the State
 Capitol; and
 WHEREAS, Named for the plentiful springs on the property of
 early settler John M. Balch, Balch Springs was incorporated in
 1953 and is a home-rule city; and
 WHEREAS, Located in Dallas County, Balch Springs has grown
 to encompass a population of some 20,000 citizens who enjoy a
 thriving community with an attractive quality of life and a
 vibrant business climate; and
 WHEREAS, Balch Springs is home to a variety of cultural and
 recreational opportunities for residents and visitors alike,
 including a new library, the Double D Dude Ranch, and the Chiesl
 Baseball Complex; and
 WHEREAS, Balch Springs Day at the State Capitol offers its
 citizens and community leaders the opportunity to learn more
 about state government and to promote the assets and quality of
 life that make Balch Springs an exceptional place to live, work,
 and raise a family; now, therefore, be it
 RESOLVED, That the Senate of the State of Texas, 81st
 Legislature, hereby commend the citizens of Balch Springs for
 their many contributions to our state and extend to them best
 wishes for a productive and memorable Balch Springs Day at the
 State Capitol; and, be it further
 RESOLVED, That a copy of this Resolution be prepared for
 the citizens of Balch Springs as an expression of esteem from the
 Texas Senate.
