| 2 | 2 | | WHEREAS, The Senate of the State of Texas is pleased to |

| 3 | 3 | | join citizens across the state in observing Substance Abuse |

| 4 | 4 | | Prevention and Treatment Advocacy Day at the State Capitol; and |

| 5 | 5 | | WHEREAS, Hosted by the Texas Association of Addiction |
|---|
| 6 | 6 | | Professionals, the Association of Substance Abuse Programs, and |
|---|
| 7 | 7 | | the Texas Summit Committee for Prevention, this event brings |
|---|
| 8 | 8 | | together men and women from across the state to promote the |
|---|
| 9 | 9 | | exceptional work done by addiction professionals and treatment |
|---|
| 10 | 10 | | providers; and |
|---|
| 11 | 11 | | WHEREAS, This coalition of agencies, representing |
|---|
| 12 | 12 | | approximately 4,000 licensed chemical dependency counselors from |
|---|
| 13 | 13 | | across the state and more than 60 community-based organizations, |
|---|
| 14 | 14 | | began working together in 2005 with the goal of ensuring that |
|---|
| 15 | 15 | | Texans have access to substance abuse treatment and prevention |
|---|
| 16 | 16 | | services; and |
|---|
| 17 | 17 | | WHEREAS, This advocacy day event will include workshop |
|---|
| 18 | 18 | | sessions to provide attendees with current information they need |
|---|
| 19 | 19 | | to make them better advocates for the vital work they perform |
|---|
| 20 | 20 | | improving the lives of Texans; these professionals and advocates |
|---|
| 21 | 21 | | truly deserve recognition for their exemplary work in dealing |
|---|
| 22 | 22 | | with an important issue facing our state; now, therefore, be it |
|---|
| 23 | 23 | | RESOLVED, That the Senate of the State of Texas, 81st |
|---|
| 24 | 24 | | Legislature, hereby commend the dedicated substance abuse |
|---|
| 25 | 25 | | professionals in our state on their commitment to fighting drug |
|---|
| 26 | 26 | | abuse and extend to them best wishes for a successful Substance |
|---|
| 27 | 27 | | Abuse Prevention and Treatment Advocacy Day at the State Capitol; |
