| 2 | 2 | | WHEREAS, The Senate of the State of Texas takes pleasure in |

| 3 | 3 | | recognizing Mogiaree Chastain Richardson on the grand occasion |
|---|
| 4 | 4 | | of her 99th birthday on February 25, 2009; and |
|---|
| 5 | 5 | | WHEREAS, Mogiaree Chastain was born February 25, 1910, in |
|---|
| 6 | 6 | | the town of LaFayette in Upshur County, Texas; she and her late |
|---|
| 7 | 7 | | brother, Elzy, were the children of Ethel Gertrude McIntyre and |
|---|
| 8 | 8 | | John Alexander Chastain; and |
|---|
| 9 | 9 | | WHEREAS, Mogiaree is the great-granddaughter of James A. |
|---|
| 10 | 10 | | Chastain and Susanna Chastain, who arrived in Texas in 1872; with |
|---|
| 11 | 11 | | the exception of six months, Mogiaree has spent her entire life |
|---|
| 12 | 12 | | in LaFayette, Gilmer, and Pittsburg, Texas; and |
|---|
| 13 | 13 | | WHEREAS, She moved to Pittsburg in the late 1920s, where |
|---|
| 14 | 14 | | she worked at the Piggly Wiggly and served as a manager at |
|---|
| 15 | 15 | | Davenport's department store; she was also a clerk for her father |
|---|
| 16 | 16 | | when he was a justice of the peace; and |
|---|
| 17 | 17 | | WHEREAS, Mogiaree married Bryant Roscoe "Rich" Richardson |
|---|
| 18 | 18 | | on September 19, 1945; Rich served his country as a lieutenant |
|---|
| 19 | 19 | | commander in the United States Navy during World War II and was a |
|---|
| 20 | 20 | | superintendent of schools in Gilmer; and |
|---|
| 21 | 21 | | WHEREAS, An exemplary lady who is known for her warmth and |
|---|
| 22 | 22 | | sense of humor, Mogiaree is cherished as a special treasure in |
|---|
| 23 | 23 | | the hearts of her family members and friends; and |
|---|
| 24 | 24 | | WHEREAS, Beloved for her endearing and engaging |
|---|
| 25 | 25 | | personality, Mogiaree is noted for living each day to the |
|---|
| 26 | 26 | | fullest, and over the years, she has consistently been a source |
|---|
| 27 | 27 | | of strength and much joy to others; and |
|---|
| 28 | 28 | | WHEREAS, In honor of Mogiaree's birthday, relatives, |
|---|
| 29 | 29 | | friends, and visitors from out of state are gathering to show |
|---|
| 30 | 30 | | their affection and celebrate with her; the gathering is taking |
|---|
| 31 | 31 | | place on February 28 at one of Mogiaree's favorite places to |
|---|
| 32 | 32 | | dine, the Catfish King in Mount Pleasant; now, therefore, be it |
|---|
| 33 | 33 | | RESOLVED, That the Senate of the State of Texas, 81st |
|---|
| 34 | 34 | | Legislature, hereby congratulate Mogiaree Chastain Richardson on |
|---|
| 35 | 35 | | the occasion of her 99th birthday and extend to her best wishes |
|---|
| 36 | 36 | | for a joyous celebration; and, be it further |
|---|
| 37 | 37 | | RESOLVED, That a copy of this Resolution be prepared in |
