1	1	SENATE RESOLUTION NO. 330
2	2	WHEREAS, The Senate of the State of Texas is pleased to
3	3	recognize the members of the Texas Medical Association and the
4	4	Texas Medical Association Alliance and the medical students and
5	5	residents who have come to Austin to take part in the First
6	6	Tuesdays at the Capitol program; and
7	7	WHEREAS, Texas Medical Association physicians and Alliance
8	8	members, students, and residents travel to Austin from across the
9	9	state on the first Tuesday of each month during legislative
10	10	sessions to visit their legislators and discuss issues that
11	11	relate to the practice of medicine and the health of Texas
12	12	citizens; and
13	13	WHEREAS, Participants in the First Tuesdays initiative
14	14	make up a highly visible contingent when they visit the Capitol,
15	15	their white coats signalling their professional dedication to
16	16	health care and the improvement of medical policy and services;
17	17	and
18	18	WHEREAS, The 81st Legislature is the fourth session for the
19	19	First Tuesdays at the Capitol program, which takes place this
20	20	year on February 3, March 3, April 7, and May 5; and
21	21	WHEREAS, In 2009, First Tuesdays at the Capitol
22	22	participants are discussing issues that include health insurance
23	23	and medical liability reform, improved funding for Medicaid and
24	24	the Children's Health Insurance Program and a reduction in the
25	25	burden of administering those programs, increasing patient
26	26	safety, keeping newly graduated physicians in Texas, and finding
27	27	positive solutions to the problems of obesity and insufficient
28	28	immunizations; and
29	29	WHEREAS, The visits occasioned by First Tuesdays at the
30	30	Capitol present an excellent opportunity for the Senate to
31	31	recognize the outstanding contributions made by physicians and
32	32	health care representatives who work to improve health care for
33	33	all Texans; now, therefore, be it
34	34	RESOLVED, That the Senate of the State of Texas, 81st
35	35	Legislature, hereby welcome the participants in the First
36	36	Tuesdays at the Capitol program and extend to them best wishes
37	37	for a productive visit; and, be it further
38	38	RESOLVED, That a copy of this Resolution be prepared for
39	39	them as an expression of highest regard from the Texas Senate.
