| 2 | 2 | | WHEREAS, The Senate of the State of Texas is pleased to |

| 3 | 3 | | recognize the players, coaches, and fans of Faith Christian |

| 4 | 4 | | School in Grapevine and the Gainesville State School for their |
|---|
| 5 | 5 | | inspirational demonstration of sportsmanship at the football |
|---|
| 6 | 6 | | game played between the schools in November, 2008; and |
|---|
| 7 | 7 | | WHEREAS, Mindful of playing a team that plays no home games |
|---|
| 8 | 8 | | and that was without a win for the season, Faith Christian School |
|---|
| 9 | 9 | | head coach Kris Hogan determined that the team members of the |
|---|
| 10 | 10 | | Gainesville State School could benefit from an expression of |
|---|
| 11 | 11 | | support and goodwill; and |
|---|
| 12 | 12 | | WHEREAS, Coach Hogan asked that half of the Faith Christian |
|---|
| 13 | 13 | | School fans at the game cheer for the visiting team; the fans |
|---|
| 14 | 14 | | responded wholeheartedly by creating a spirit line for them to |
|---|
| 15 | 15 | | run through and by cheering for the state school players by name; |
|---|
| 16 | 16 | | and |
|---|
| 17 | 17 | | WHEREAS, Responding to the encouragement of the Faith |
|---|
| 18 | 18 | | Christian School fans, the state school team had one of their |
|---|
| 19 | 19 | | best games of the season; and although they ultimately lost the |
|---|
| 20 | 20 | | game 33-14, their scoring two touchdowns in the game matched the |
|---|
| 21 | 21 | | number of touchdowns they had scored in their previous eight |
|---|
| 22 | 22 | | games; and |
|---|
| 23 | 23 | | WHEREAS, Following the game, players from Gainesville |
|---|
| 24 | 24 | | received a meal for the ride home, a Bible, and an encouraging |
|---|
| 25 | 25 | | letter from a member of the Faith Christian School team; Coach |
|---|
| 26 | 26 | | Mark Williams of the state school expressed deep gratitude on |
|---|
| 27 | 27 | | behalf of his team for this unexpected show of sportsmanship and |
|---|
| 28 | 28 | | fellowship; now, therefore, be it |
|---|
| 29 | 29 | | RESOLVED, That the Senate of the State of Texas, 81st |
|---|
| 30 | 30 | | Legislature, hereby commend the coaches, players, and fans of |
|---|
| 31 | 31 | | Faith Christian School on their generosity and sportsmanship and |
|---|
| 32 | 32 | | extend to both teams best wishes for future success; and, be it |
|---|
