44 Salvadore Rios Hernandez, Sr.
55 WHEREAS, The Senate of the State of Texas joins the
66 citizens of San Antonio in mourning the loss of Salvadore Rios
77 Hernandez, Sr., who died recently at the age of 80; and
88 WHEREAS, Salvadore R. Hernandez was born June 22, 1928, in
99 Ohio; he served the nation for 20 years in the United States Air
1010 Force, retiring at the rank of technical sergeant; and
1111 WHEREAS, Following his retirement from military service,
1212 Mr. Hernandez worked in civil service for many years at Kelly Air
1313 Force Base, Lackland Air Force Base, and Fort Sam Houston; and
1414 WHEREAS, Mr. Hernandez was active in numerous civic and
1515 community organizations, taking particular pleasure in his work
1616 with the Boys and Girls Clubs of San Antonio; he was a vital part
1717 of the Golden Gloves Boxing Tournament for nearly 40 years; and
1818 WHEREAS, A man of courage, strength, and compassion, Mr.
1919 Hernandez had an exemplary work ethic and gave unselfishly to
2020 others, and his kindness and generosity will not be forgotten by
2121 those who knew him; and
2222 WHEREAS, He was a devoted husband, father, and
2323 grandfather, and his family and friends will continue to live
2424 with the cherished memories of his life and his many
2525 accomplishments; now, therefore, be it
2626 RESOLVED, That the Senate of the State of Texas, 81st
2727 Legislature, hereby extend sincere condolences to the bereaved
2828 family of Salvadore Rios Hernandez, Sr.: his loving wife of 50
2929 years, Frances M. Hernandez; his daughters and sons-in-law,
3030 Esperanza and Carlos Rodriguez, Consuelo and Armando Hernandez,
3131 and Margarita and Kent Martinez; his sons and daughter-in-law,
3232 Salvadore M. Hernandez, Jr., Steven and Velma Hernandez, and
3333 Daniel Hernandez; his brothers, Jesus, Alex, Ruben, and Ricardo
3434 Hernandez; his sister, Mary Louise Wilson; and his 12
3535 grandchildren and five great-grandchildren; and, be it further
3636 RESOLVED, That a copy of this Resolution be prepared for
3737 his family as an expression of deepest sympathy from the Texas
3838 Senate, and that when the Senate adjourns this day, it do so in
3939 memory of Salvadore Rios Hernandez, Sr.
