1	1	SENATE RESOLUTION NO. 394
2	2	WHEREAS, The Senate of the State of Texas takes pleasure in
3	3	recognizing Dr. Joseph S. Galati for his outstanding work as a
4	4	physician, clinical researcher, and medical director; and
5	5	WHEREAS, A native of Long Island, New York, Joseph Galati
6	6	graduated from Saint George's University School of Medicine and
7	7	was a resident in internal medicine at State University of New
8	8	York Health Science Center-Brooklyn and Kings County Hospital
9	9	Center; he pursued fellowship training in gastroenterology,
10	10	hepatology, and transplant medicine at the University of
11	11	Nebraska Medical Center; and
12	12	WHEREAS, In 1994, Dr. Galati was recruited by The
13	13	University of Texas Medical School at Houston, and in 1996, he
14	14	became medical director of Transplant Hepatology; in 1999, he was
15	15	named medical director of Saint Luke's Texas Liver Institute, and
16	16	in 2001, he formed Liver Specialists of Texas, one of America's
17	17	largest liver practices; and
18	18	WHEREAS, He was appointed medical director of the Center of
19	19	Liver Disease and Transplantation at Methodist Hospital in
20	20	Houston in 2007; renowned as a clinical researcher, he has
21	21	conducted numerous studies in viral hepatitis and other forms of
22	22	liver disease; he has collaborated with colleagues in his field
23	23	from around the world and is a much-sought-after speaker
24	24	nationally and internationally; he is also a founding board
25	25	member of the Texas Liver Coalition; and
26	26	WHEREAS, In addition, Dr. Galati is a leader in his
27	27	community, and for the past five years, he has been working with
28	28	Clear Channel Radio to create consumer-oriented radio
29	29	programming that covers topics of health and wellness; now,
30	30	therefore, be it
31	31	RESOLVED, That the Senate of the State of Texas, 81st
32	32	Legislature, hereby commend Dr. Joseph S. Galati on his
33	33	exceptional career in the field of liver disease and
34	34	transplantation and on his many contributions to his profession;
35	35	and, be it further
36	36	RESOLVED, That a copy of this Resolution be prepared for
37	37	Dr. Galati as an expression of esteem from the Texas Senate.
