| 2 | 2 | | WHEREAS, The Senate of the State of Texas is pleased to |

| 3 | 3 | | welcome the citizens of Kaufman County who have come to Austin on |
|---|
| 4 | 4 | | March 23, 2009, to celebrate Kaufman County Day at the State |
|---|
| 5 | 5 | | Capitol; and |
|---|
| 6 | 6 | | WHEREAS, Kaufman County was created in 1848 and named in |
|---|
| 7 | 7 | | honor of David Spangler Kaufman, a state legislator and United |
|---|
| 8 | 8 | | States congressman; in 1851, King's Fort, established by William |
|---|
| 9 | 9 | | P. King and other settlers in 1840, was selected as county seat |
|---|
| 10 | 10 | | and renamed Kaufman; and |
|---|
| 11 | 11 | | WHEREAS, Kaufman County is located in North Texas and is |
|---|
| 12 | 12 | | noted as one of the top 10 fastest-growing counties in the state; |
|---|
| 13 | 13 | | it has several top-rated public independent school districts; |
|---|
| 14 | 14 | | and |
|---|
| 15 | 15 | | WHEREAS, The county is home to three higher education |
|---|
| 16 | 16 | | facilities, Southwestern Christian College, Trinity Valley |
|---|
| 17 | 17 | | Community College, and Trinity Valley Nursing College; and |
|---|
| 18 | 18 | | WHEREAS, Its historical and cultural attractions include |
|---|
| 19 | 19 | | the British Flying Training School Museum, the historic Kaufman |
|---|
| 20 | 20 | | County Poor Farm, and the Terrell Heritage Museum; and |
|---|
| 21 | 21 | | WHEREAS, Kaufman County is an outstanding place to live, |
|---|
| 22 | 22 | | work, and raise a family, and Kaufman County Day at the State |
|---|
| 23 | 23 | | Capitol is an excellent opportunity to pay tribute to the unique |
|---|
| 24 | 24 | | history and qualities of the county and its many contributions to |
|---|
| 25 | 25 | | the progress and development of the state; now, therefore, be it |
|---|
| 26 | 26 | | RESOLVED, That the Senate of the State of Texas, 81st |
|---|
| 27 | 27 | | Legislature, hereby extend a warm welcome to the representatives |
|---|
| 28 | 28 | | of Kaufman County and best wishes for an enjoyable Kaufman County |
|---|
| 29 | 29 | | Day at the State Capitol; and, be it further |
|---|
| 30 | 30 | | RESOLVED, That a copy of this Resolution be prepared as an |
