| 2 | 2 | | WHEREAS, The Senate of the State of Texas is pleased to |

| 3 | 3 | | recognize the Boys and Girls Clubs of Champion Valley on the |

| 4 | 4 | | occasion of Boys and Girls Club Week in Fayette and Colorado |

| 5 | 5 | | Counties, which is being celebrated March 22 through March 28, |

| 6 | 6 | | 2009; and |
|---|
| 7 | 7 | | WHEREAS, Young people are one of the most important |
|---|
| 8 | 8 | | resources in our communities, for they represent the future of |
|---|
| 9 | 9 | | our state; it is important that they have positive role models |
|---|
| 10 | 10 | | and guidance as they grow up to become the leaders of tomorrow; |
|---|
| 11 | 11 | | and |
|---|
| 12 | 12 | | WHEREAS, Many young people need professional youth |
|---|
| 13 | 13 | | services to help them cope with a wide range of social and |
|---|
| 14 | 14 | | financial hardships; the Boys and Girls Clubs in Texas help these |
|---|
| 15 | 15 | | youths keep out of trouble by offering them a safe and supportive |
|---|
| 16 | 16 | | place to go and providing a number of quality programs; and |
|---|
| 17 | 17 | | WHEREAS, The Boys and Girls Clubs provide educational |
|---|
| 18 | 18 | | assistance through the Power Hour homework program; other |
|---|
| 19 | 19 | | services help youths in developing character and leadership, |
|---|
| 20 | 20 | | discovering needs, setting goals, and realizing their full |
|---|
| 21 | 21 | | potential as productive, responsible, and caring citizens; and |
|---|
| 22 | 22 | | WHEREAS, More than 750 young people in Schulenburg and |
|---|
| 23 | 23 | | Weimar benefit from the services provided by the Boys and Girls |
|---|
| 24 | 24 | | Clubs of Champion Valley each year; and |
|---|
| 25 | 25 | | WHEREAS, Members of the Boys and Girls Clubs of Champion |
|---|
| 26 | 26 | | Valley will join 4.6 million youths in more than 4,000 clubs |
|---|
| 27 | 27 | | across the country in celebrating National Boys and Girls Club |
|---|
| 28 | 28 | | Week during the week of March 22 through March 28, 2009; now, |

| 29 | 29 | | therefore, be it |

| 30 | 30 | | RESOLVED, That the Senate of the State of Texas, 81st |
|---|
| 31 | 31 | | Legislature, hereby proclaim the week of March 22 through March |
|---|
| 32 | 32 | | 28, 2009, as Boys and Girls Club Week in Fayette and Colorado |

| 33 | 33 | | Counties and extend best wishes to the members, staff, and |

| 34 | 34 | | volunteers of the Boys and Girls Clubs of Champion Valley for an |

| 35 | 35 | | enjoyable celebration; and, be it further |
