| 2 | 2 | | WHEREAS, The Senate of the State of Texas is pleased to |

| 3 | 3 | | recognize the Ponder High School Lions boys' basketball team, |

| 4 | 4 | | which recently won its second consecutive University |
|---|
| 5 | 5 | | Interscholastic League Class 2A state championship title; and |
|---|
| 6 | 6 | | WHEREAS, The Lions cruised to victory for their second |
|---|
| 7 | 7 | | title in a row at the state tournament in Austin, defeating New |
|---|
| 8 | 8 | | Waverly High School by a score of 51-39 in a game that saw the |
|---|
| 9 | 9 | | Lions pull away in the fourth quarter; and |
|---|
| 10 | 10 | | WHEREAS, These young athletes have demonstrated great |
|---|
| 11 | 11 | | talent and perseverance throughout the school year, ending the |
|---|
| 12 | 12 | | season with a 40-1 record; team members can take great pride in |
|---|
| 13 | 13 | | their outstanding performance; and |
|---|
| 14 | 14 | | WHEREAS, Under the superior leadership and expertise of an |
|---|
| 15 | 15 | | exemplary coaching staff, the Lions have developed exceptional |
|---|
| 16 | 16 | | teamwork and discipline; and |
|---|
| 17 | 17 | | WHEREAS, Ponder High School and the City of Ponder are |
|---|
| 18 | 18 | | proud of the Lions for their hard work, their impressive skills, |
|---|
| 19 | 19 | | and their fine sportsmanship; now, therefore, be it |
|---|
| 20 | 20 | | RESOLVED, That the Senate of the State of Texas, 81st |

| 21 | 21 | | Legislature, hereby commend the Ponder High School Lions boys' |

| 22 | 22 | | basketball team on their outstanding season and extend |
|---|
| 23 | 23 | | congratulations to them on winning the University |
|---|
| 24 | 24 | | Interscholastic League Class 2A state championship title; and, |
