SENATE RESOLUTION NO. 512
WHEREAS, Burlington Northern and Santa Fe Railway Company
of Fort Worth is receiving the Prominence Award from the Texas
Committee for Employer Support of the Guard and Reserve on March
26, 2009; and
WHEREAS, Operating under the auspices of the United States
Department of Defense, the Employer Support of the Guard and
Reserve works to gain support from businesses whose employees
have been called into active military service by the National
Guard or the Reserves; and
WHEREAS, The organization's Prominence Award is a new award
recognizing employers who have previously received Employer
Support of the Guard and Reserve's highest awards and continue to
provide outstanding support for their Guard and Reserve
employees; in 2006, Burlington Northern and Santa Fe Railway
received the Secretary of Defense Freedom Award, the highest
national Employer Support of the Guard and Reserve award for
employers; and
WHEREAS, The brave men and women of the National Guard and
the Reserves and their families make extraordinary sacrifices in
order to keep our country safe from harm, and by continuing its
commitment to its employees who choose to serve, Burlington
Northern and Santa Fe Railway is truly deserving of this
prestigious award; now, therefore, be it
RESOLVED, That the Senate of the State of Texas, 81st
Legislature, hereby congratulate Burlington Northern and Santa
Fe Railway for receiving the Prominence Award from the Texas
Committee for Employer Support of the Guard and Reserve and
commend the company's management and staff for their patriotism
and their ongoing support of their employees; and, be it further
RESOLVED, That an official copy of this Resolution be
prepared for the company as an expression of high regard from the
Texas Senate.
