SENATE RESOLUTION NO. 525
WHEREAS, The Senate of the State of Texas is pleased to
recognize the Texas Council of Child Welfare Boards for its
outstanding efforts in working to stop child abuse and protect
Texas children; and
WHEREAS, The Texas Council of Child Welfare Boards is a
nonprofit organization devoted to supporting the more than 200
county child welfare boards across the state; composed of a
statewide network of locally appointed volunteers, the council
coordinates state and local efforts to promote the safety and
well-being of children and their families; and
WHEREAS, The council works to normalize the lives of
children in the foster care system and to advocate for adequate
resources to provide services for abused and neglected children;
its members work at the grassroots level to develop programs that
meet each community's needs; and
WHEREAS, County boards throughout the state raise more
than $20 million annually to meet the needs of our state's
children; these funds have gone to provide clothing, school
supplies, and birthday and holiday gifts for foster children and
fulfilled other special needs; and
WHEREAS, The Texas Council of Child Welfare Boards
provides training materials and technical assistance to local
boards to facilitate the organization's goals and aims; it is
justly deserving of recognition for its impressive efforts in
improving the lives of Texas' most vulnerable citizens; now,
therefore, be it
RESOLVED, That the Senate of the State of Texas, 81st
Legislature, hereby commend the Texas Council of Child Welfare
Boards on its commitment to stemming the tide of child abuse and
extend best wishes to this exemplary organization for continued
success in all its future endeavors; and, be it further
RESOLVED, That a copy of this Resolution be prepared for
the council as an expression of high regard from the Texas
Senate.
