| 2 | 2 | | WHEREAS, The Senate of the State of Texas is pleased to |

| 3 | 3 | | recognize the Texas Council of Child Welfare Boards for its |
|---|
| 4 | 4 | | outstanding efforts in working to stop child abuse and protect |
|---|
| 5 | 5 | | Texas children; and |
|---|
| 6 | 6 | | WHEREAS, The Texas Council of Child Welfare Boards is a |
|---|
| 7 | 7 | | nonprofit organization devoted to supporting the more than 200 |
|---|
| 8 | 8 | | county child welfare boards across the state; composed of a |
|---|
| 9 | 9 | | statewide network of locally appointed volunteers, the council |
|---|
| 10 | 10 | | coordinates state and local efforts to promote the safety and |
|---|
| 11 | 11 | | well-being of children and their families; and |
|---|
| 12 | 12 | | WHEREAS, The council works to normalize the lives of |
|---|
| 13 | 13 | | children in the foster care system and to advocate for adequate |
|---|
| 14 | 14 | | resources to provide services for abused and neglected children; |
|---|
| 15 | 15 | | its members work at the grassroots level to develop programs that |
|---|
| 16 | 16 | | meet each community's needs; and |
|---|
| 17 | 17 | | WHEREAS, County boards throughout the state raise more |
|---|
| 18 | 18 | | than $20 million annually to meet the needs of our state's |
|---|
| 19 | 19 | | children; these funds have gone to provide clothing, school |
|---|
| 20 | 20 | | supplies, and birthday and holiday gifts for foster children and |
|---|
| 21 | 21 | | fulfilled other special needs; and |
|---|
| 22 | 22 | | WHEREAS, The Texas Council of Child Welfare Boards |
|---|
| 23 | 23 | | provides training materials and technical assistance to local |
|---|
| 24 | 24 | | boards to facilitate the organization's goals and aims; it is |
|---|
| 25 | 25 | | justly deserving of recognition for its impressive efforts in |
|---|
| 26 | 26 | | improving the lives of Texas' most vulnerable citizens; now, |
|---|
| 27 | 27 | | therefore, be it |
|---|
| 28 | 28 | | RESOLVED, That the Senate of the State of Texas, 81st |
|---|
| 29 | 29 | | Legislature, hereby commend the Texas Council of Child Welfare |
|---|
| 30 | 30 | | Boards on its commitment to stemming the tide of child abuse and |
|---|
| 31 | 31 | | extend best wishes to this exemplary organization for continued |
|---|
| 32 | 32 | | success in all its future endeavors; and, be it further |
|---|
| 33 | 33 | | RESOLVED, That a copy of this Resolution be prepared for |

| 34 | 34 | | the council as an expression of high regard from the Texas |
|---|
