5 | 5 | | WHEREAS, Memories of a life filled with joyful times and |

6 | 6 | | meaningful accomplishments remain to comfort the family and |

7 | 7 | | friends of Kathleen Moore Cullum of Dallas, who passed away on |
---|
8 | 8 | | March 11, 2009, at the age of 89; and |
---|
9 | 9 | | WHEREAS, Mrs. Cullum was born in Sabinal on July 2, 1919, |
---|
10 | 10 | | to Clara and Walter Moore; she earned a bachelor's degree in art |
---|
11 | 11 | | from Southern Methodist University, where she was president of |
---|
12 | 12 | | Tri Delta sorority; it was also at Southern Methodist University |
---|
13 | 13 | | that she met her future husband, George Cullum, Jr., on a blind |
---|
14 | 14 | | date; the couple were married in 1942 and were later blessed with |
---|
15 | 15 | | three children; and |
---|
16 | 16 | | WHEREAS, A well-respected member of her community, Mrs. |
---|
17 | 17 | | Cullum served on the board of the Dallas Woman's Club and was a |
---|
18 | 18 | | member of the Dallas Country Club, Marianne Scruggs Garden Club, |
---|
19 | 19 | | Mary K. Craig Class, Dallas Dinner Dance Club, and the Dallas |
---|
20 | 20 | | Women of Rotary; appointed by Governor Dolph Briscoe to serve on |
---|
21 | 21 | | the board of regents at Stephen F. Austin State University, she |
---|
22 | 22 | | was also a valued congregant of Oak Lawn United Methodist Church, |
---|
23 | 23 | | and she faithfully attended the Lillian Tate Sunday school class; |
---|
24 | 24 | | and |
---|
25 | 25 | | WHEREAS, In her free time, she enjoyed cheering on her |
---|
26 | 26 | | favorite Southern Methodist University sports teams and |
---|
27 | 27 | | traveling the world with her family; and |
---|
28 | 28 | | WHEREAS, Kathleen Cullum was a caring and gracious woman |
---|
29 | 29 | | who is deeply missed, and she will long be fondly remembered for |
---|
30 | 30 | | her radiant smile and her kind and generous spirit; now, |
---|
31 | 31 | | therefore, be it |

32 | 32 | | RESOLVED, That the Senate of the State of Texas, 81st |

33 | 33 | | Legislature, hereby pay tribute to the life of Kathleen Moore |

34 | 34 | | Cullum and extend deepest sympathy to the members of her family: |

35 | 35 | | to her husband of 67 years, George Cullum, Jr.; to her children, |

36 | 36 | | Linda and Ray Tunnell, Mark and Sally Cullum, and Philip and Dale |
