| 2 | 2 | | WHEREAS, The Senate of the State of Texas is pleased to |

| 3 | 3 | | recognize the City of River Oaks on the occasion of its 60th |

| 4 | 4 | | anniversary; and |
|---|
| 5 | 5 | | WHEREAS, Located in a naturally wooded area along the West |
|---|
| 6 | 6 | | Fork of the Trinity River, and close to downtown Fort Worth, the |
|---|
| 7 | 7 | | City of River Oaks officially enacted its city charter on January |
|---|
| 8 | 8 | | 11, 1949; the community can trace its roots to a hundred years |
|---|
| 9 | 9 | | earlier, when James Ventioner settled in the area and built a |
|---|
| 10 | 10 | | home and farm; and |
|---|
| 11 | 11 | | WHEREAS, Today, River Oaks is a vibrant community |
|---|
| 12 | 12 | | dedicated to offering small-town charms with the amenities of |
|---|
| 13 | 13 | | big-city living close at hand; home of the Castlewood Independent |
|---|
| 14 | 14 | | School District and facilities like McGee Park, River Oaks |
|---|
| 15 | 15 | | remains an exemplary place in which to live, work, and raise a |
|---|
| 16 | 16 | | family; and |
|---|
| 17 | 17 | | WHEREAS, The citizens of River Oaks are commemorating the |
|---|
| 18 | 18 | | auspicious occasion of their city's 60th anniversary with a |
|---|
| 19 | 19 | | celebration at the River Oaks Community Center on April 4, 2009, |
|---|
| 20 | 20 | | featuring western swing music and other entertainment; now, |
|---|
| 21 | 21 | | therefore, be it |
|---|
| 22 | 22 | | RESOLVED, That the Senate of the State of Texas, 81st |
|---|
| 23 | 23 | | Legislature, hereby commend the citizens of River Oaks for their |
|---|
| 24 | 24 | | many contributions to the rich legacy of our state and extend to |
|---|
| 25 | 25 | | them best wishes for a memorable 60th anniversary celebration; |
|---|
| 26 | 26 | | and, be it further |

| 27 | 27 | | RESOLVED, That a copy of this Resolution be prepared for |
