| 2 | 2 | | WHEREAS, The Senate of the State of Texas is pleased to |

| 3 | 3 | | recognize Chief Don Garcia of the La Feria Police Department for |
|---|
| 4 | 4 | | 20 years of outstanding service to his community; and |
|---|
| 5 | 5 | | WHEREAS, Chief Garcia began his law enforcement career as a |
|---|
| 6 | 6 | | patrol officer for the Raymondville Police Department following |
|---|
| 7 | 7 | | his graduation from the Police Academy in Harlingen in 1980; he |
|---|
| 8 | 8 | | joined the La Feria Police Department in 1989, and he has worked |
|---|
| 9 | 9 | | his way through the ranks to earn his position as chief of police; |
|---|
| 10 | 10 | | and |
|---|
| 11 | 11 | | WHEREAS, During his tenure with the La Feria Police |
|---|
| 12 | 12 | | Department, Chief Garcia has seen the department grow from a |
|---|
| 13 | 13 | | small, part-time force with only four officers sharing quarters |
|---|
| 14 | 14 | | with the La Feria Fire Department to a modern, fulltime police |
|---|
| 15 | 15 | | department with more than a dozen officers and the latest in |
|---|
| 16 | 16 | | technical equipment; and |
|---|
| 17 | 17 | | WHEREAS, Chief Garcia played an important role in |
|---|
| 18 | 18 | | initiating a Community Outreach Program to help young people |
|---|
| 19 | 19 | | avoid criminal activity; the department has also developed |
|---|
| 20 | 20 | | Community Crime Watch Programs so that citizens can report |
|---|
| 21 | 21 | | suspicious activities; and |
|---|
| 22 | 22 | | WHEREAS, Dedicated to public service, Chief Garcia is |
|---|
| 23 | 23 | | respected and admired by his colleagues and by the citizens of La |
|---|
| 24 | 24 | | Feria; he is truly deserving of recognition for his service and |
|---|
| 25 | 25 | | his many accomplishments; now, therefore, be it |
|---|
| 26 | 26 | | RESOLVED, That the Senate of the State of Texas, 81st |
|---|
| 27 | 27 | | Legislature, hereby commend Chief Don Garcia on his devotion to |
|---|
| 28 | 28 | | duty and his able stewardship of the La Feria Police Department |
|---|
| 29 | 29 | | and extend to him best wishes for continued success as chief of |
|---|
| 30 | 30 | | police; and, be it further |
|---|
| 31 | 31 | | RESOLVED, That a copy of this Resolution be prepared for |
|---|
| 32 | 32 | | him as an expression of esteem from the Texas Senate. |
