| 2 | 2 | | WHEREAS, The Senate of the State of Texas is pleased to |

| 3 | 3 | | recognize Aurora De La Garza, who has been selected for the |
|---|
| 4 | 4 | | prestigious Distinguished Citizen Award by the Boy Scouts of |
|---|
| 5 | 5 | | America; and |
|---|
| 6 | 6 | | WHEREAS, The Distinguished Citizen Award is given to an |
|---|
| 7 | 7 | | individual who has demonstrated exceptional leadership as a |
|---|
| 8 | 8 | | volunteer in the community; and |
|---|
| 9 | 9 | | WHEREAS, Aurora De La Garza has served as district clerk of |
|---|
| 10 | 10 | | Cameron County since 1980; during her tenure in office, she has |
|---|
| 11 | 11 | | initiated many new systems and programs to better serve the |
|---|
| 12 | 12 | | county's citizens, including centralized records management and |
|---|
| 13 | 13 | | the creation of an automated voice response system to prequalify |
|---|
| 14 | 14 | | jurors; and |
|---|
| 15 | 15 | | WHEREAS, Aurora proposed a jury donation plan to area |
|---|
| 16 | 16 | | legislators, and the plan was enacted into law by the Texas |
|---|
| 17 | 17 | | Legislature; she has also been named the District Clerk of the |
|---|
| 18 | 18 | | Year for the State of Texas by the County and District Clerks' |
|---|
| 19 | 19 | | Association of Texas; and |
|---|
| 20 | 20 | | WHEREAS, Aurora is dedicated to supporting the educational |
|---|
| 21 | 21 | | system and has served as Principal for a Day at numerous schools |
|---|
| 22 | 22 | | throughout the area; she has also served as Parent Teacher |
|---|
| 23 | 23 | | Association president at several schools; and |
|---|
| 24 | 24 | | WHEREAS, Aurora has given generously of her time and |
|---|
| 25 | 25 | | talents to the people of the Lower Rio Grande Valley, and she has |
|---|
| 26 | 26 | | been an exceptional advocate for the Boy Scouts of America; now, |
|---|
| 27 | 27 | | therefore, be it |
|---|
| 28 | 28 | | RESOLVED, That the Senate of the State of Texas, 81st |
|---|
| 29 | 29 | | Legislature, hereby commend Aurora De La Garza for her |
|---|
| 30 | 30 | | outstanding service to her community and extend congratulations |
|---|
| 31 | 31 | | to her on her selection for the Distinguished Citizen Award by |
|---|
| 32 | 32 | | the Boy Scouts of America; and, be it further |
|---|
| 33 | 33 | | RESOLVED, That a copy of this Resolution be prepared for |
