44 Lenzell Coby, Sr.
55 WHEREAS, The Senate of the State of Texas joins the
66 citizens of Longview and Houston in mourning the loss of Lenzell
77 Coby, Sr., who died March 10, 2009; and
88 WHEREAS, Lenzell Coby was born in Gladewater, Texas;
99 before moving to Longview, he lived in Houston, where he worked
1010 for Emsco Steel and operated Coby's Barber Shop; he attended
1111 Progressive New Hope Baptist Church and was a member of the
1212 Masonic Lodge; and
1313 WHEREAS, After moving to Longview, he opened Friendly
1414 Barber Shop and joined Red Oak Missionary Baptist Church, where
1515 he was a faithful member and cochairman of the Deacon Board; and
1616 WHEREAS, Lenzell was well liked and respected by his
1717 community; known for his wisdom and warmth, he was a mentor and a
1818 source of strength to others; and
1919 WHEREAS, Lenzell was beloved by many for his good humor and
2020 generous spirit, and he leaves behind memories that will be
2121 treasured forever by his family and many friends; now, therefore,
2222 be it
2323 RESOLVED, That the Senate of the State of Texas, 81st
2424 Legislature, hereby extend sincere condolences to the bereaved
2525 family of Lenzell Coby, Sr.; and, be it further
2626 RESOLVED, That a copy of this Resolution be prepared for
2727 the members of his family as an expression of deepest sympathy
2828 from the Texas Senate, and that when the Senate adjourns this
2929 day, it do so in memory of Lenzell Coby, Sr.
