| 5 | 5 | | WHEREAS, The Senate of the State of Texas joins the |
|---|
| 6 | 6 | | citizens of Longview and Houston in mourning the loss of Lenzell |
|---|
| 7 | 7 | | Coby, Sr., who died March 10, 2009; and |
|---|
| 8 | 8 | | WHEREAS, Lenzell Coby was born in Gladewater, Texas; |
|---|
| 9 | 9 | | before moving to Longview, he lived in Houston, where he worked |
|---|
| 10 | 10 | | for Emsco Steel and operated Coby's Barber Shop; he attended |
|---|
| 11 | 11 | | Progressive New Hope Baptist Church and was a member of the |
|---|
| 12 | 12 | | Masonic Lodge; and |
|---|
| 13 | 13 | | WHEREAS, After moving to Longview, he opened Friendly |
|---|
| 14 | 14 | | Barber Shop and joined Red Oak Missionary Baptist Church, where |
|---|
| 15 | 15 | | he was a faithful member and cochairman of the Deacon Board; and |
|---|
| 16 | 16 | | WHEREAS, Lenzell was well liked and respected by his |
|---|
| 17 | 17 | | community; known for his wisdom and warmth, he was a mentor and a |
|---|
| 18 | 18 | | source of strength to others; and |
|---|
| 19 | 19 | | WHEREAS, Lenzell was beloved by many for his good humor and |
|---|
| 20 | 20 | | generous spirit, and he leaves behind memories that will be |
|---|
| 21 | 21 | | treasured forever by his family and many friends; now, therefore, |
|---|
| 22 | 22 | | be it |
|---|
| 23 | 23 | | RESOLVED, That the Senate of the State of Texas, 81st |
|---|
| 24 | 24 | | Legislature, hereby extend sincere condolences to the bereaved |
|---|
| 25 | 25 | | family of Lenzell Coby, Sr.; and, be it further |
|---|
| 26 | 26 | | RESOLVED, That a copy of this Resolution be prepared for |

| 27 | 27 | | the members of his family as an expression of deepest sympathy |
|---|
| 28 | 28 | | from the Texas Senate, and that when the Senate adjourns this |
