| 2 | 2 | | WHEREAS, The Senate of the State of Texas is pleased to |

| 3 | 3 | | recognize Colt McCoy for his many achievements in the classroom |

| 4 | 4 | | and on the football field; and |
|---|
| 5 | 5 | | WHEREAS, Fifth-year senior quarterback of The University |
|---|
| 6 | 6 | | of Texas Longhorns football team, Colt McCoy has set a high |
|---|
| 7 | 7 | | standard of excellence in his life and his athletic career; he |
|---|
| 8 | 8 | | was born into a family with a strong athletic legacy; his father, |
|---|
| 9 | 9 | | Brad, played safety for the Abilene Christian University |
|---|
| 10 | 10 | | football team, and his mother, Debra, was a shooting guard in |
|---|
| 11 | 11 | | basketball; and |
|---|
| 12 | 12 | | WHEREAS, Coached by his father in high school, Colt set |
|---|
| 13 | 13 | | numerous records on the football field while excelling in the |
|---|
| 14 | 14 | | classroom as well; he graduated as the leading passer in Texas |
|---|
| 15 | 15 | | Class 2A history, and he was a three-year member of the National |
|---|
| 16 | 16 | | Honor Society; and |
|---|
| 17 | 17 | | WHEREAS, As quarterback of the Longhorns, Colt has set the |
|---|
| 18 | 18 | | standard for success; he holds the all-time record for victories |
|---|
| 19 | 19 | | by a Longhorn quarterback with 32 and is the school's leader in |
|---|
| 20 | 20 | | pass attempts and completions, touchdown passes, passing yards, |
|---|
| 21 | 21 | | and completion percentage; he also holds the National Collegiate |
|---|
| 22 | 22 | | Athletic Association single-season record for completion |
|---|
| 23 | 23 | | percentage; and |
|---|
| 24 | 24 | | WHEREAS, Colt is active in community affairs; his |
|---|
| 25 | 25 | | volunteer work has included regularly visiting patients at the |
|---|
| 26 | 26 | | Austin Children's Hospital, tutoring underprivileged children, |
|---|
| 27 | 27 | | visiting nursing homes, and participating in many other |
|---|
| 28 | 28 | | charitable activities; he is truly deserving of recognition for |
|---|
| 29 | 29 | | the example he sets for others; now, therefore, be it |
|---|
| 30 | 30 | | RESOLVED, That the Senate of the State of Texas, 81st |
|---|
| 31 | 31 | | Legislature, hereby commend Colt McCoy for his many |
|---|
| 32 | 32 | | contributions to his team and community; and, be it further |
|---|
| 33 | 33 | | RESOLVED, That a copy of this Resolution be prepared for |
