11 SENATE RESOLUTION NO. 63
22 WHEREAS, The Senate of the State of Texas is pleased to
33 join the citizens of the Town of Sunnyvale in celebrating
44 February 17, 2009, as Sunnyvale Day at the Capitol; and
55 WHEREAS, Located 15 miles east of downtown Dallas,
66 Sunnyvale is situated on 10,384 acres of rolling plains and
77 offers the amenities of city life and the charm of country life;
88 and
99 WHEREAS, The town is bordered on the north and west by the
1010 suburbs of Mesquite and Garland, where fine restaurants, shops,
1111 and entertainment establishments abound; it also borders the
1212 sprawling, pastoral land of Kaufman County and the serene waters
1313 of Lake Ray Hubbard; and
1414 WHEREAS, Lake Ray Hubbard, a 22,745-acre reservoir, forms
1515 a natural boundary to the east, and recreational activities on
1616 the lake include sailing and bass fishing; recreational
1717 facilities in the town include parks, tennis courts, and a hike
1818 and bike trail; and
1919 WHEREAS, The Town of Sunnyvale is a vital community, and
2020 its residents look forward to a bright future; now, therefore, be
2121 it
2222 RESOLVED, That the Senate of the State of Texas, 81st
2323 Legislature, hereby commend the citizens of the Town of Sunnyvale
2424 for their contributions to our state and extend to them best
2525 wishes for an enjoyable Sunnyvale Day at the Capitol; and, be it
2626 further
2727 RESOLVED, That a copy of this Resolution be prepared for
2828 the citizens of the Town of Sunnyvale as a memento of this
2929 occasion.
